View Full Version : Top 10 Short-lived Series I want on DVD
McGillicuddy 02-12-2011, 06:56 PM Name the Top 10 Short-lived TV series of all time, you wish could get a Complete Series Release. (Wouldn't have to worry about follow up seasons;))
My Mother The Car (1965-66) 30 ep.
It's About Time (1966-67) 26 ep. (Sherwood Schwartz Production)
The Good Guys (1968-70) 42 ep. (Bob Denver)
Angie (1979-80) 36 ep.
Bosom Buddies (1980-82) 37 ep. (Re-release unedited with original music)
Joanie Loves Chachi (1982-83) 16 ep. (with music intact)
The Betty White Show (1977-78) 14 ep. (Just because its Betty White)
Life With Lucy (1986) 14 ep. (Because its LUCY!)
The Ropers (1979-80) 22 ep. (Three's Company Spin-off)
The Brady Bunch Variety Hour (1977)
I would include The Golden Palace, but I consider it the 8th season of The Golden Girls and should be released anyhow!!
browneyes106 02-12-2011, 07:03 PM I agree with Bosom Buddies. I also wish The Golden Palace would get a DVD release.
Marvo301 02-12-2011, 07:34 PM As a Jerry Van Dyke fan I would love to see My Mother The Car get a release. I'd also like to see It's About Time (love the theme song!), Joannie Loves Chachi, Life With Lucy, and the Brady Bunch Variety Hour get released on DVD.
dakert 02-12-2011, 11:28 PM I would like to see "The Invisible Man" 1975 starring David McCallum, Melinda Fee and Craig Stevens
The Paul Sorvino show "We'll Get By"
treky 02-13-2011, 01:20 AM "IT'S ABOUT TIME"

MickeyMac 02-13-2011, 02:33 PM Batman
The Green Hornet
Burke's Law
Hollywood A Go Go (whats left of it)

factsoflife 02-13-2011, 06:12 PM Savannah- (1996-1997) 34 episodes.
Models Inc., (1994-1995) 29 episodes (1 Unaired)
Just The Ten Of Us (1988-1990) 47 episodes
Malibu Shores (1996) 10 episodes
For The People (2002-2003) unknown # of episodes
JamesG 02-13-2011, 08:41 PM 1. "Brimstone" (1998-1999)
I remember watching it when it orginally aired and loved it.
It starred Peter Horton as a deceased cop who the Devil (John Glover) sends back to Earth to capture 113 demons that escaped from hell. If he succeeds he is promised to get a second chance at life.
2. "Young Hercules" (1998-1999)
I'm a huge fan of "Hercules"/"Xena" and I really want this released to complete the collection.
This was a spin-off series that starred Ryan Gosling as the younger version of Kevin Sorbo's Hercules from "The Legendary Journeys".
Though it never got an official release this was has been available for years through the bootleg circuit.
3. "John Doe" (2002-2003)
Before he got famous from "Prison Break", Dominic Purcell starred in this short-lived sci-fi series on FOX.
It was about a man who has amnesia about his own past but knows nearly every fact about mankind.
4. "Space Cases" (1996-1997)
This was a children's science-fiction series that aired on Nickelodeon.
Since it's a Nickelodeon series I'm not expecting it to come to DVD any time soon as they are very lazy when it comes to releasing their shows. This wasn't even released on iTunes like some of the other Nickelodeon shows that never had a DVD release (like "Salute Your Shorts").
Some of the show's cast were Walter Jones, who is mostly known as the Original Black Power Ranger, and Rebecca Herbst before she went to"GH".
5. "Eerie, Indiana: The Other Dimension" (1998)
This was a spin-off of the quirky horror/sci-fi series "Eerie, Indiana".
Since "Eerie, Indiana" got released on DVD I want to see this released to complete the collection.
6. "Sons of Thunder" (1999)
This was the very short-lived spin-off of "Walker, Texas Ranger" that only had 6 episodes.
They should have had this released on one of the "Walker" DVDs.
7. "Ohara" (1987-1988)
This starred Pat Morita as a Japanese-American police officer who uses unconventional methods to solve crimes; such as meditation and other forms of spirituality.
I love Pat Morita and want to see how this was.
8. "Raven" (1992-1993)
This was a short-lived martial arts series that starred Jeffrey Meek as a ninja-trained Special Forces agent who retires to Hawaii and tries to track down his long lost son.
9. "Batman" (1966-1968)
This never got officially released soley due to issues with the rights between DC Comics and FOX.
10. "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" (1993-1995)
These are the original seasons of the "Power Rangers" franchise and my favorite of them all. (each incarnation is regarded as a separate series).
With the exception of early VHS releases and best-of DVDs, the "Power Rangers" never made it to DVD in the US. The first few seasons are available Region 2.

Didn't forget. I recorded them all when they aired so I don't need it on DVD.
bencasey 02-14-2011, 10:18 PM Hank
The Tycoon
Bus Stop
Man Who Never Was
My Living Doll (impossible as the prints were supposedly destroyed)
The Beachcomber
Great Ghost Tales
Quinn Martin's Tales of the Unexpected
The New Breed
Lucas Tanner
Lots of other shows I would want but if I have the majority of the episodes from 16mm or off-air records, I don't have them on my Top 10 list.

Have you noticed the thread about My Living Doll under TV on DVD News?
Never Mind, I see you've already participated in that discussion.

That's Life (excellent 1968 musical comedy with Robert Morse and E.J. Peaker, very unique show for the time and I'd love to have it on DVD.)

That's very good if you have a near complete collection of Hey Landlord. From what source are the episodes?
treky 02-15-2011, 11:33 PM I'd love to get the two episodes of Hey Landlord I'm missing. That was a very funny show.
yes it was, I remember seeing the reruns years ago on a local station.

16mm prints that I purchased over the last 30 years. Most are color, although quite faded and a few prints are black and white. But the show has never aired anywhere in the videotaping era.

My top ten Karen 1964, Hey Landlord!, To Rome with Love, Bus stop(was this done in color?) The Long hot summer (i have 13 episodes ) Mr Novak, The Baileys of Balboa, Paradise bay, The Beachcomber(i have 1 episode) and Camp Runamuck a great and elusive show. Thanks for the time.
loaferman 04-06-2012, 09:28 AM "Terriers" that ran 13 episodes on FX. Truly a lost gem of a show, it was never promoted correctly most of the ads made it look like a show about a dog instead of the best detective show since "Veronica Mars".
benjamoon 04-06-2012, 10:31 AM Not one season shows but I would love to see the second and third seasons of "American Dreams" and the show "Homefront"
Those two come to mind right now!
Regulus 04-06-2012, 02:12 PM 6. "Sons of Thunder" (1999)
This was the very short-lived spin-off of "Walker, Texas Ranger" that only had 6 episodes.
