LOS ANGELES -- Barney Miller can sing.

Hal Linden, who starred as Barney Miller on the TV show of the same name, is putting out his first CD. It's called It's Never Too Late and is mostly standards with a jazzy twist. One of the songs is original; Linden wrote Meet Me at Jack's as a possible theme song for a short-lived TV series in the early 1990s called Jack's Place. It wasn't used.

Regarding Barney Miller, Linden says he only sang once in the series, in the second episode. He was off-camera and supposed to be singing in the shower.

Linden says the decision was made that Barney Miller could not carry a tune. Linden, however, can. Years ago he won a Tony Award for a musical.

It's Never Too Late will be available in April.

P.S. He sang in the shower in the sixth episode, I believe. Barney, Fish and Wojo had gone into that apartment for a stakeout and the tenants kept bugging them. :lol: Vic Tayback (aka Mel Sharples from Alice) played the landlord, and Brett Somers played his wife.

I knew Hal was a musician but I didn't know he was a singer too! Is there no end to his talents?
