American soap star Kristoff St. John spent Sunday behind bars after he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).

The "Young and the Restless" actor's car was pulled over by Los Angeles police at around 1.30am on Sunday and questioned over allegations of speeding.

Officers also asked St. John to complete field sobriety tests and he was taken into custody after struggling with the tasks.

Oh no. He always seemed like such a straight arrow.

Nobody's perfect, we all make mistakes.

That said he seems like a responsible person, and will take full responsibilty for this, and not whine and blame others like some celebrities do.

We all make mistakes, but there's still no excuse for this. I don't have much sympathy for anyone who gets a DUI, no matter how much I like them.

His character Neil has dealt with alcoholism on the show, I thought perhaps he would know better... :(

OK. This mess is getting tired. What in the world? Come on, now. He should know better than that. Why do people do this? I really don't have a lot sympathy either. If you have the knowledge of what can happen and you still take the risk, then you should pay the consequences.

I agree. I mean, I don't think it's something that should be held over their heads forever, but it also shouldn't be dismissed with a simple slap on the wrist.

I also agree. They should get SOME jail time, not just community service and/or probation, just like regular people.

First offense DUI in most states is only a fine, appear in court, court costs and its permanently on your driving record. that's if it's not an aggravated DUI or a DUI causing a crash and/or injuries to other persons. Sounds like he got arrested for 1st offense DUI. If your 1st time is an "Aggravated DUI" meaning more than 3 times over the limit, then the person also faces the possibility of having to drive with a DUI Interlock system in their vehicle for a year. I personally think that should go for any person who gets arrested for any type of DUI. Penalties also could be harsher if a person gets a DUI while driving on a revoked or suspended license.
