Which is your favorite song in LW's album? ((All beacause of You))

That album alone brought me into the whole world of All Things Lisa!! I remember the day I first heard her music. July 21, 1984,
I was listening to the Seattle Christian radio station KCMS 105.3 FM that Saturday morning when a very beautiful song came on that had me instantly entranced, "How High, How Deep, How Wide," sung by this very soothing-sounding voice. They announced that was a song by Lisa Whelchel from the Facts of Life, and I was immediately impressed. I decided to go down to the Christian bookstore to check it out--and the very first song had me sold right then and there--a very upbeat, pulsating song called "Love Believer"--Are you really glad to be yourself, or do you wish that you were someone else? You really ought to keep in mind that you're exactly what the Lord designed. He really loves you, just start believing it's true, He really wants you to be a
Love Believer!
And this song really spoke to me, as a person who had suffered from deep low self-esteem all my life, and I really began to feel as
if Lisa was speaking to ME personally!! As if she was reaching through time and space to say these words into my heart. The whole album was great, I was on such a high listening to the album, I bought it on the spot. Nothing could ever touch me deeper than this album, no one deeper than Lisa. There have been so many times the songs just brought me to tears, as well as laughter when I realized that "...all my troubles seem so far away when my Lord is near"(He Sings Me to Sleep). It would be so great if she came out with a second album.
So "Love Believer" is THE song for me!!

"Love Believer": The song which spoke most to me about self-esteem. I really felt as if Lisa were actually there speaking directly to me. It's so full of energy, you get so swept up into it and you BELIEVE it, she is so pumped with enthuiasm and joy!!
"Just Obey": I was blown away by this one, it was forceful. It reminded me of a song and video by Olivia Newton-John, what was that, "Living In Desparate Times"? Oh well, it is a powerful song. You'd never think that such a young girl had so much fire in her heart.
"How High, How Deep, How Wide" The first song I had heard by Lisa on the radio. I was so struck by her tenderness, the awe, the transcendance and majesty of the love of God. She has such a great voice, no wonder it was nominated for a Grammy for Best Inspirational Album in 1985.
"Real Possibility": I swear I can hear the Michael McDonald groove in this one--I read that's one of her favorite artists--if you notice the picture of a bearded guy on her wall in the bedroom at
Eastland, that's him. (Remember "What A Fool Believes" with the Doobie Brothers?) When she sings the chorus, "Let Him fill your heart, and then you'll see how real His love can be", that just sends me into orbit! Her joy is just so contagious!!!!
"Good Girl": Written by Christian new waver Steve Taylor, it's a nice quirky attempt at punk. She says in the Aug. '84 issue of Contemporary Christian Music that she got into character to sing this song by dancing and hopping around. Would have liked to see that. She's hilarious in this one.
"Shelter": A great danceable one. I think it was taken from a song in the '80's called "Let the Music Play" by some singer named Ta Mara or whatever. But that song was so annoying and mechanical compared to Lisa's song, she just sparkles with life
and rhythm.
"Set Me Free": At first this was my least favorite song, the main riff seemed repititious. But now I really like it, because you could really feel her pain and alienation.
"Cover Me" : A cover song by a Christian singer Bruce Hibbard. This one is so tender and gentle. I have cried so many times at hearing this one. The ending is just rapturous.
"All Because of You": At first this seemed a little cutesy, but the joy in this one is inescapable. I did take a difference in opinion in the lyrics though, "Is that the person I'm supposed to be?" In looking at the FOL, Blair WAS in fact that person what we should be like--in what mature, kind person she was becoming on the show. Of course to be the kind of Christian Lisa is of course is definitely the most important thing. But you have to think of Blair's character arc.
"He Sings Me To Sleep": Another tender song, the sense of serenity Lisa conveys in the song are indescribable. I was so tickled with joy with the line "All my troubles seem so far away when my Lord is near." That line really spoke to me.

Lisa was 21 when she made it. Yes she has always liked Cristian music, she even got her kids into it. Her kids listen to Jaci Valesquez, ZOEgirl, Newsboys, DC Talk, Carman, and the Katinas. Hmmm...I listen to all them too. Coincidence? *grins*

I don't know anything about Christian music but the list that you gave, are
those Christian bands or something?

ABlairican Pie

Those are Christian bands mentioned. In the April '83 cover story in Contemporary Christian Music/Magazine, she mentioned she liked Amy Grant, Carman, and the Joe English Band (who used to play drums in Paul McCartney & Wings)--good band in concert!!
But that was back then. In the August '84 issue of CCM (same mag), she was pictured with Steve Taylor, Phil Keaggy and Tim
Miner (who started his recording career on the Nissi label, which was also Lisa's label). If you caught her chat in August on crosswalk.com, she said she was a big fan of Steven Curtis Chapman. I have a CCM issue from '83 where she's pictured giving Amy Grant a hug. Awwwwww....:crying:  :loveya:

Yep! They are. I don't know if she listens to them or not but I know all them I listed her kids do. She probably listens to some kind of Christian or Country music. I don't think I'd come upon her singing "I'm a Slave 4 U" in the car ;)

OMG  that was the WORST thing you could have said. I mean see, I have this big beef with her husband. I got SO mad at his mother because I called their house when Lisa was there, and she had a wicked bad attitude with me EVEN know I was pretending to be the wrong number... anyways she had this bad tone with me so right before she hung up my friend and I told her to screw herself... I hope she heard me. But ANYWAYS getting back to Steve...

1] He scares the [word] out of me

2] The picture of him with the Pie... OH MY GOD

3] My half sister Kristen and I talk some bad stuff about him, which makes us to believe he's a....*laughter explodes* nevermind....

To LW4Ever,
Actually, I meant "I'm a Slave 4 U" in a literal SLAVE sense! Playing around with the "subservient housewife" thing, ha-ha.
I'm just trying to make you feel better by making you laugh and empathize with her over her not-so-nice husband, as you seem to indicate. Do you actually know the Cauble family? If I remember correctly, I saw you use his last name with your first in one post. Tell me more--and what WAS that with the pie? Was that the photo in Lisa's journal about the Amish pie? And what's up with his Mommy Dearest? I hope you got the joke about the Britney song!!

YEA lol I get the joke-

anyways about his mother...she just got a bad hearing problem LOL and a bad attitude. Anyways, you probably saw me use "Cauble" in a post because my last name is Cauble lol. Anyways I'm not getting into the thing about the Pie. I'd get banned for saying it.

To LW4Ever,
This thing about the photo in Lisa's journal of Steve and the pie
wouldn't have anything to do with a certain teen movie that came out about a year ago, would it??;) :happyface  :p Without going into too much detail, is that what you were refering to?

No seriously... you can email me if you would like but I cannot say it on here. Some person in the Whelchel Yahoo group already sent out a email asking the people if they thought that it was unfair that I didn't like Steve even know I never met him... Well ya know, it ain't my fault who I'm scared of! I can't control my feelings! Jesus... anyways Tad, email me.

Has anyone tried to get the album re-released on cd? I'm sure a lot of companies would be interested in it. Even Shout Factory have a music department which specializes in remastering rare albums.

I started a thread here if anyone else thinks it's a good idea...
