So I was thinking, in many of the other posts regarding cases, we have posted images of the different locations, whether they are self-taken images, google pictures, or google streetview snapshots. Anyways, I think it is always interesting to see the locations now-a-days. Do you think it's possible to make this thread a "sticky" at the top to where everyone can post images, etc... of locations? For instance, I have images of the Perman Gilbert locations, I have found the Stanley Gryziec home on google streetview, etc... It will be a big thread, but I think it could be worth it. Hopefully everyone agrees! (PS. I know I did not post any images in this, ha!)

Since I'm a Google Street View-aholic now, I'll post also post any pictures I find in this thread too.

DEBRA POE:

I found the Circle K Convenience Store that Debra Poe was abducted from. It's located near the corner of Hall Road and Aloma Avenue in Orlando. Again, the picture gets blurry when you zoom in so it's not of the best quality.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Debra1.jpg

Zooming out, you can see the surrounding buildings. There's a house right next to the convenience store and an insurance company right next to the house. For some reason, I always pictured this store on a lonely highway in the middle of nowhere. Obviously I was wrong.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Debra2.jpg

This last photo shows what is across the street from the convenience store. Plenty of homes fenced in. It's a nice sized residential neighborhood. Further proof that the store is right in the middle of town.

BOBBIE OBERHOLTZER:

This is Hoosier Pass which is used as a scenic overlook. Bobbie's killer attempted to rape her in this parking lot.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Orange1.jpg

This next photo shows you the path of Bobbie's final steps. After the killer attempted to bind her wrists inside his vehicle, she escaped from him and ran along Highway 9. The circle to the right is the south side of the parking lot where she exited and the circle to the left is where she was killed.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Orange2.jpg

Going further down Highway 9, we get a closer look at the trees surrounding the spot where she ended up. This set of trees was where Bobbie hoped to hide from the killer after escaping him in the parking lot. Just on the other side of the 50 MPH speed limit sign is where she turned to run off the road.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Orange3.jpg

I was able to find the cross that was placed where Bobbie's body was found. It's circled. When you zoom in on Google Street View, the picture quality gets a little blurry so it's not the best photo. But I was surprised I found the cross.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Orange4.jpg

You'll notice that the cross is very close to the edge of the road suggesting she didn't make it very far. But that's not exactly where she was shot. Her tracks and blood in the snow turned around back to the road suggesting that the killer drove off right after he shot her and she tried to make it back to the road in hopes of flagging somebody down. Unfortunately, the snow banks at the time were so deep that it was next to impossible to climb back up to the road in her condition. She made it about halfway before finally losing strength and collapsing where the cross is.

KURT SOVA:

Here is Susan's duplex on Harvard Avenue in Newburgh Heights.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Sova1.jpg

The fence where Kurt's friend supposedly left him to go back inside and get his jacket is still to the left side of the house.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Sova2.jpg

Just down the street on Harvard Avenue is this old building. It was a J.L. Goodman furniture store at the time of Kurt's death in 1981. Apparently behind this building is the ravine where Kurt's body was found.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Sova3.jpg

It was stated on the UM segment that the duplex and the ravine where Kurt's body was found were just 500 yards apart. This final picture is a street view to give you a better idea of just how short of a distance it is between the two spots. The circle on the left is the house that's right next door to the duplex. The circle on the right is where the ravine is located behind the building.

CINDY JAMES:

This is where it all started in October 1982. 334 East 40th Ave. in Vancouver.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Cindyloc5.jpg

Cindy rented this house for 4 months shortly after she and her husband separated. A young couple lived downstairs in the basement suite at the time. Threatening notes and the first threatening phone calls happened here. This was also the location of the first attack on January 27, 1983. Agnes Woodcock found Cindy behind the house in the basement stairwell. She had several cuts over her body and a nylon stocking was tied around her neck.

After temporarily moving back to her old house where she lived with her husband after the attack, Cindy moved in to this house at 3293 West 14th Avenue in Vancouver.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Cindyloc2.jpg

Cindy lived here for about 2 1/2 years, from April 1983 to December 1985. This is the house where 3 dead cats were thrown in both the front and back yards. Her garden was torn up. The second attack happened here on January 30, 1984. Ozzie Kaban walked out back, looked inside the window and found Cindy unconscious in the kitchen. A threatening note was pinned with a parry knife through her hand.

This was Cindy's next house located at 5400 Blundell Road in Vancouver.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Cindyloc4.jpg

Cindy rented this duplex for about a year. This was where the basement was set on fire while the Woodcocks were spending the night with Cindy. The basement window had also been broken on another occasion. Continued threating phone calls and her porch lights were uncrewed. After the fire, Cindy had an emotional breakdown and had to be hospitalized for 10 weeks. Cindy's landlord kicked her out of this house not long after.

Cindy lived at this house for the last year of her life, on 8220 Claysmith Road in Richmond.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Cindyloc3.jpg

The UM segment never reenacted the last attack but it happened here. A police officer found Cindy unconscious in her car and in the garage on October 26, 1988. She was nude from the waist down and she had been strangled with a nylon stocking again.

This is the shopping center where Cindy disappeared for the final time on No. 2 and Blundell Road in Richmond.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Cindyloc.jpg

On May 25, 1989, Cindy bought some groceries at this shopping center and a birthday present for a family friend. She was last seen depositing her paycheck at this location. Where it says "Eve Station," is where the bank used to be. This parking lot was where Cindy's car was found with blood on the driver's side door and her credit cards were under the car.

This final picture is the approximate location where Cindy's body was found, near the corner of No. 3 and Blundell Road, about a mile from the shopping center.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Cindyloc6.jpg

The creepy looking abandoned house was torn down a couple years after Cindy's death. At the time, many new homes and businesses were being built so this is harder to recognize, but the first thing we see at the beginning of the segment when Cindy's body is being transported away.

LISA ZIEGERT (Card shop she was abducted from on Walnut Street Extension in Agawam, Massachusetts)

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/LisaZ.jpg

When Lisa worked there, it was called Brittany's Card & Gift Shoppe. I'm not sure what it is now. I originally thought it was vacant now but there are cars in the parking lot so it must be used for something.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/LisaZ2.jpg

The building has two businesses. The card shop was on the right side...

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/LisaZ3.jpg

These final two pictures show what the block looks like looking in both directions on Walnut Street...

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/LisaZ4.jpg

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/LisaZ5.jpg

What's amazing is that no matter where you look, there are businesses everywhere in every direction from the card shop. Lisa was abducted on a Wednesday night some time between 8:20 and 9:10 p.m. It wasn't that late. In fact, some people say it was still light out when she was taken. Stores were still open. Nobody witnessed anything. Not even the sandwich shop right across the street which had a perfect view of the card shop.

Then and now photos from my trip to the old school house from the Dennis Depue segment. It's about an hour's drive from my home. July 2009:

Driving down Snow Praire Road just outside Coldwater, I recognized this old shack as the building the Thorton's drive past in the opening seconds of the segment and I knew I must be getting close:

CONNECTICUT RIVER VALLEY KILLER:

Here's the parking lot where a pregnant Jane Boroski was stabbed 27 times in 1988. The building is a Gomarlo's Market now. I'm not sure if it was at the time she was attacked. It's located on Highway 10 in West Swanzey, New Hampshire.

I'm copying and pasting MegtheEgg's photos from the Rhonda Hinson murder location...

Here are the photos from my NC trip today. I hope they'll help everyone understand the crime scene a little bit better; actually seeing the site in the daylight and in stills helps a lot, I think.

I passed the eastbound exit and turned around at Exit 113 so that I could get on I-40W to travel Rhonda's exact route (she would've been coming west from Hickory, NC, which is roughly about 10 miles up the interstate from Valdese). Here is the westbound Exit 112:
146219

Exit 112 ramp. Rhonda made a right at the yield sign onto Mineral Springs Mountain Road:
146220

The I-40 bridge just west of the stop sign at the bottom of the ramp, where the two men in the blue Chevy were reported by the witness between 12:15 and 12:30 AM:
146221

More in a minute.

Under the I-40 bridge. This is my car parked where the blue Chevy was reported to be:
146223

View of bridge from Mineral Springs Mountain. I was standing a few hundred feet in front of the actual murder site when I took this photo:
146224

View from under the bridge. This is what the individuals in the car would've seen. Just beyond the oncoming white car and interstate on-ramp on the left is the site:
146225

Another photo of the road, just to demonstrate how steep the hill is. Rhonda's car rolled backwards, into the left lane, and onto the shoulder after the shot:
146226

Mineral Springs Mountain Rd, on the route the witness under hypnosis drove his truck:
146227

Many of you will recognize this stretch of road:
146228

This is where MSMR ends at Highway 70, into a residential area dotted with a few businesses and churches. The entire stretch of road from the interstate can't be over four or five miles long. I was always under the impression the road was far more rural than what it is--of course, that was 27 years ago:
146229

I grossly misconceived MSMR as a quiet rural route: let it be known, it is NOT. For this reason, I found it difficult to get a really good photo of the exact place Rhonda's car was; there was virtually no shoulder and I would've had to block a street next to the on-ramp. The exact site is noted when it is visible in one of the above photos. It is directly across the road in the final picture of my previous post, hidden almost entirely by the van in the left lane. The main idea was to show you all a better overall picture of the area and how things sit in relation to one another. Hope that's what I've done.

I believe I actually found it. After doing some considerable research comparing the overhead view with that of the episode. I believe it to be a rest stop in Huron Shores, Ontario. The rest stop is on the shoulder of 17. If anyone has an email I will gladly send them to be posted as I am on my iPhone right now. If it isn't the same rest stop, I'll eat my hat. The coincidence is too uncanny to not be the same rest stop. It is between Blind River and Thessalon, but much closer to Blind River.

Jefferson and second was the location given on doe network. I looked it up. It said she was taken from the food barn parking lot. The only super market looking place is more north on main street. About 2 miles away. Now we know she worked at a bank at the time of her death and on the corner or 2nd and Jefferson is a Chrysler dealership, mortuary, and a bank. I think she could have been taken from closer to the bank. Doe net gave an approximate location.

From looking at the Google Maps street view image, I think that this is it. I presume from what you said that the Food Barn closed down, and was replaced by a Chrysler dealership. The bank may have been the bank she worked at, or perhaps it's a conicidence. I imagine the pay phone she was taken at is gone, considering the wide use of cell phones today

You are correct. From the 2009 video from news station kmbc, they showed where the phone booth would have been and where the 'Old Food Barn' (they called it) used to be and it was the Chrysler dealership.

Thanks to those who reminded me of the 2009 news report video on Angela Hammond which points out the corner and shows the street sign of where she was abducted.

It's on the corner of Jefferson & 2nd Street in Clinton, Missouri. The payphone was right on the corner and not part of the actual parking lot.

Although the payphone is gone now, here is a picture of the one Angela was talking on. You can even see the roof of the church across the street. (Taken from the news broadcast.)

Also, there is a fork in the river that is also visible in the segment's opening shot. The fork is just out of frame on the left side.

Those Angela Hammond street corner pictures creep me out a little. I can imagine being there in her shoes. It must have been frightening to say the least. But with so many different directions to run away, how come she didnt at least try to make a run for it?

If you google street view it, there's a lot of open spaces. He would have gotten her if she ran in any direction.

A segment that truly gave me nightmares as an 11 year old the first time I saw it. Gretchen Burford. Here is the Wells Fargo Bank where her abductor, Tyrone Hamel, forced her to withdraw money from the ATM at knife point. The bank is located on El Camino Real near the San Antonio Road intersection in Mountain View, California. (3 miles south of Palo Alto.)

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Burford1.jpg

This is a zoom out shot. The ATM's are sort of behind the bank so you can't see them from the street. After Gretchen attempted to withdraw more money than she was allowed, the transaction was aborted. She tried to exit the car but her killer pulled her back in. At that point, Gretchen zoomed out through the parking lot and in to oncoming traffic in a desperate attempt to escape. Circled in this picture is the exit of the bank. She ended up driving straight over the median.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Burford2.jpg

This last picture is across the street from the bank where Gretchen's car came to rest right after it hit a Cadillac. Here, the two eye witnesses saw her exit the car screaming, "He stabbed me!" She fell to the ground and died within minutes and the killer, Tyrone Hamil ran off. He was finally captured in 2005.

Here is an overhead view of the Blind River rest stop.

When the segment begins you can clearly see the rest stop skews off of the road in a westward direction.

Also, there is a fork in the river that is also visible in the segment's opening shot. The fork is just out of frame on the left side.

Here is a picture of the corner (corner of Milford Harrington Highway and Killen Pond Road) where Charles Holden fought with the assailant before speeding off in his car
http://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc426/InvestigativeByNature/UMPhotos/CharlesHoldenDelawareCorner.jpg

http://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc426/InvestigativeByNature/UMPhotos/CharlesHoldenHardees.jpg

Also, I found someone with the last name Holden an address of 1010 Killen Pond Road, Harrington, DE. But when I looked at the picture of the property, I didn't see any houses nearby, just trailers. So, maybe they tore down the house where the actual murder took place or maybe it's another family with the last name Holden that owns the property (which I doubt in a small town).

Charles lived in a trailer on the side of the house. That would make sense it would be close like that.

SON OF SAM:

The pictures surrounding the final shooting were easy to find because a detailed map is shown in the UM segment. The victims were Stacy Moskowitz and Robert Violante. Stacy was killed. Robert survived the shooting but lost one of his eyes as a result.

The events leading up to the shooting take place on Shore Parkway in Brooklyn, NY. At 1:00 a.m. on July 31, 1977, a yellow volkswagen stopped here at the park entrance. 2 men got out and entered the park.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/SAM7.jpg

30 minutes later, the volkswagen was seen by Tommy Zano circling the block 3 times.

This next photo is Cecilia Davis' apartment building which is located on Bay 17th Street, just a little over 2 blocks from the park entrance.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Sam4.jpg

She arrived home at 2:08 a.m., just minutes after David Berkowitz was issued a parking ticket on his car. A couple minutes past and Cecilia saw Berkowitz across the street pull the ticket off his windshield and drive away down Bay 17th Street. 25 minutes later, she was walking her dog outside her apartment, ready to go back inside when she saw Berkowitz walk past her and head in the direction where the park is located.

At 2:20 a.m., Stacy and Robert parked on Shore Parkway, at the park entrance and went for a walk. As they were making their way back to their car, they saw a creepy looking guy standing next to the park bathroom, staring at them. In this next photo, the arrow on the right is pointing to the bathroom where the man was standing. The arrow on the left points to where Stacy and Robert were eventually shot in their car.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/SAM3.jpg

Tommy Zano and his girlfriend were parked in front of Stacy and Robert. From his rear view mirror, Zano saw the same man in the park (a slimmer looking guy than Berkowitz who was in much better shape) walk up to Stacy and Robert's car and shoot them.

15 seconds after the shooting, witnesses saw a man in a cheap looking wig running out of the other side of the park. He jumped in the yellow volkswagen and sped off. This picture shows the side of the park where the volkswagen was waiting for the man.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/SAM6.jpg

The volkswagen sped down 17th Avenue. When it reached the corner of 17th and Cropsey Avenue, it ran a red light and just barely missed crashing in to another car. This last photo is where the near collision took place.

Thanks to those who reminded me of the 2009 news report video on Angela Hammond which points out the corner and shows the street sign of where she was abducted.

It's on the corner of Jefferson & 2nd Street in Clinton, Missouri. The payphone was right on the corner and not part of the actual parking lot.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Hammond.jpg

This is looking at the street corner from the other side.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Hammond3.jpg

Robert Stack was right when he said the payphone was right in the center of town. There's a church across the street and businesses everywhere you look.

Although the payphone is gone now, here is a picture of the one Angela was talking on. You can even see the roof of the church across the street. (Taken from the news broadcast.)

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Hammond2.jpg

Right under the very eyes of a Church, the f*cking bastard. I hope her abductor spends eternity in Hell, getting back all the pain and fear he (likely) evoked and inflicted on Angie, and on others.

Photos of the Kevin Hughes murder site:

Here is Evergreen Records, Sammy Sadler's music label, where he and Kevin stopped to make some phone calls the night of the murder, March 9, 1989. The building is located at 1021 16th Avenue South in Nashville, Tennessee.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/KevinHughes1.jpg

The guys were parked across the street. Where the red car is in the next photo was their approximate parking spot where the first gun shot was fired. This photo also shows the pathway of Kevin's final steps as he tried to flee from the shooter but where he hit the pavement and died exactly, I'm not sure. He couldn't have made it very far.

The abduction of Colleen Reed which took place on December 29, 1991 in Austin, Texas:

(The kidnappers were later revealed to be Alva Hank Worley and Kenneth McDuff)

This is Powell Street where Stephen Marks pulled up beind the kidnappers at around 8:55 p.m. The car was driving very slow. Within a few minutes, the kidnappers went the wrong way down Powell Street and nearly collided with Mike and Bill Goins on this street corner.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Colleen5.jpg

Here is the house on 534 Powell Street and the front porch where the three men were standing when they heard Colleen's screams. The parking garage, mentioned in the segment, is right next door. When Steve Marks parked at the house a few minuters earlier, he had seen the kidnappers drive in to the parking garage.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Colleen3.jpg

This next photo shows the view that the men had from the porch when they heard the screams. All they could see was the side of the car wash and then the kidnappers pulling away on 5th Street. I drew an arrow to where the car wash is. There's a new building on the corner blocking the view now.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Colleen4.jpg

Here we have the car wash on West 5th Street where Colleen was taken.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Colleen1-1.jpg

TARA CALICO:

This is the Calico home located at 403 Bruggs Drive in Belen, New Mexico. Tara left here on September 20, 1988 for her usual 34 mile bike ride. After she vanished, the Calico family lived here for 15 more years before moving to Florida in 2003.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Tara1.jpg

Highway 47 was Tara's traditional bike route. Several witnesses saw her there that morning. This next photo is the spot where 2 hunters reported seeing Tara riding with the 1954 Ford pickup truck right on her tail. Note: The homes seen in the distance were not there in 1988.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Tara2.jpg

Captain Donald Donges of the Valencia County Sheriff's Department was vague with the details on a video featured on the forbidden site. But he thinks the general area shown in the final photo was where Tara died. This was also apparently where police found marks in the dirt where a bike was dragged the day she vanished.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Tara3.jpg

Apparently officers claim to know who the killers are. They were boys at the time, now men. Their parents helped them cover the crime scene (getting rid of the bike, the body and covering the blood with sand.) But without a body, the police don't have the hard evidence to convict their suspects.

Can anyone post pictures of the Kathy Hobbs locations (house, route she should've taken to and from the store, where she was found)? Much appreciated.

This is a tough one. I can't find any articles online about the Kathy Hobbs case other than an Unsolved Mysteries wiki article, which basically states everything that's mentioned in the segment.

The segment did say that the 24 hour supermarket where she bought her book was on the corner of Desert Inn Road & Maryland Parkway in Las Vegas. But looking at the corner on street view, I'm not sure which corner is the right one. Right now, there's an Applebee's on one corner, a Carl Junior Burger place on another corner and a liquor store on the other corner. It's a major intersection and it's not surprising that the businesses are different than what they were in 1987 when Kathy was kidnapped.

According to the segment, the apartment complex where she lived with her mother and sister was just a block and half from the supermarket. When snooping around, I found a couple apartment complexes nearby but I'm not sure which one is the right one.

As to where Kathy's body was found, I don't think it's even available on street view because she was dumped somewhere in the desert.

What's really difficult is with Vegas' expansions she could have been dumped in what was the desert then. But now has a street going trough it.

Not unless I can find some articles about the case. The information I have seen online gives the victims names, cities and the stores they were killed in but no streets are listed in relation to I-70 and how close they were. Robin Fuldauer, the first victim, was killed in a Payless Shoe Store in Indianapolis but there could be several Payless stores in Indianapolis.

Unless I can get a street name or a store complex name, I have no idea where to look.

This is the Bike Shop (the "Village Pedaler" in Monona, WI) where Chad worked. You can see, in the UM segement, that inside of the store it says "village pedaler" on the wall. The main building in the center must be the hardware store that his parents had to go to.

Not even the sandwich shop right across the street which had a perfect view of the card shop.[/QUOTE]

Seeing all these pictures along with your comment makes me realize how unobservant (non observant? not sure of the correct grammar here) most people are. I try to put myself in that situation and wonder if I would have noticed anything. As you said, it was a wednesday night. probably a random wednesday night just like every other wednesday night for the potential witnesses. it only became notable after a crime was committed....makes me wonder how observant I would have been? thoughts?

Thanks dynoguy....here's the pic I took of the Wacker house back in 09. It's blurry b/c I took it while driving. I haven't been on in awhile, so I'm catching up. Good to know it's on streetview now.

Note the lime green trim around the front door and window. If you watch the segment, there's a photo of Bill and Dorothy taken in front of the house, and you can see the bright colored trim in the background. It's the photo where Bill is wearing his "Retired" hat.

RUSSELL EVANS: Killed June 4, 1989 in Spokane, Washington.

An old thread on here showed a map from a newspaper article tracing Russell's steps the night he was killed.

This is Murphy Park where Russell and his friends were hanging out when the two boys walked up and got in a fight with Russell's friend Aaron. Russell broke up the fight and the two boys told him, "You better watch your back." Then they left.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Russell2.jpg

Russell left his friend's house around midnight and almost immediately ran in to his friend Sade. They made small talk for several minutes and then parted ways. This is the corner where they ran in to each other on 29th Street.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Russell3.jpg

This final picture is where Sandy Ferris discovered Russell at 1:05 a.m. on South Ray Street that turns in to Thor Avenue. Russell's home was just 2 blocks away. I drew an an arrow to where Russell was found. The 4 dots are where his shoes and shoelaces were found.

THE UNSOLVED MYSTERIES CHURCH EDITION:

This is Sacred Heart Church in Boise, Idaho where the unknown man killed himself by swallowing a cyanide capsule on December 4, 1982. The church is located on 811 South Latah Street in Boise.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/SuChurch1.jpg

Next we have Rising Daughter Baptist Church (seen in the distance) where Harold and Thelma Swain were murdered on March 11, 1985. The church is located on Highway 17 in Waverly, Georgia.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/SwainChur.jpg

Finally, we have the rebuilt West Side Baptist Church in Beatrice, Nebraska. As you know, the original church exploded on March 1, 1950 when all the choir members were late. I found many articles about the miracle but I could not find a street address.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/ChurchToday.jpg

Anyone know where Clarence and Geneva Roberts lived ?

According to sources online, the first fire took place at the intersection of Indiana Route 135 and Grandma Barnes Road, 3 miles north of Nashville. This is the corner on street view.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Clarence1.jpg

You can see a house to the right at that intersection so I'm guessing that's the property where the original house burned down.

There are so many other locations in relation to this case that I can't find directions for; Clarence's Hardware Store, the bar where he was seen with the transient in Morgantown, the Bed & Breakfast where Geneva worked, the cemetery where they are buried. Geneva's house and the location of the second fire is listed also on Route 135 but it's 6 miles south of Nashville while the first fire was 3 miles north of Nashville. I can't pinpoint the exact spot without an address number, though.

You look at these places and they seem so ordinary...you would never think something so bad happened at them. I recently found out a nice path that I walk on almost everyday was the scene of a violent murder in the 50's and the murderer was never caught. The area is so green and peaceful with a stream running nearby...it was so hard to believe a murder could have taken place there.

Joyce went jogging on August 8, 1980. Her path took her behind the high school to the softball field which connects to the soccer field. Joyce McLain wasn't raped. It's just believed that this might have been the motive for her killer or killers. It stinks that they never found the murder weapon (a blunt object: maybe a baseball bat? softball field was nearby) and also I read the night she went jogging and was probably murdered, it thunderstormed and washed away any chance of footprints, etc.

It's hard to believe that there weren't more witnesses. It was a Friday night during the summer, approximately 8 PM, and there was supposedly a softball tournament in town that weekend as well as workers brought in to work on a mill or something like that. Plus, authorities said kids and local folks tended to hang out around the soccer field in the evening hours.

OLIVER MUNSON:

This is where Oliver lived on the 600 block of Orpington Road in Catonsville, Maryland. This is also where Unsolved Mysteries filmed the reenactment. Oliver left here on February 13, 1984 to drive to work. He never arrived.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Oliver1.jpg

3 days later, Oliver's car was found here on Braeside Road in Catonsville, just 2 blocks from his home. The car had one flat tire and Oliver's school papers and bag lunch were on the front seat.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Oliver2.jpg

Hilton Solomon's car was stolen just hours before Oliver vanished. When the car was recovered, Hilton found several receipts to a video store in Baltimore in Oliver's name. There was blood on one receipt. The video store is located at 400 West Cold Spring Lane, Baltimore.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Oliver3.jpg

On a sad note, I read an article online (published in 1993) that said Ellicott City Middle School, where Oliver worked, was torn down several years after his disappearance. His students planted a blue spruce tree in his honor but it withered away and died not long after.

For some reason, Oliver Munson's story saddens me more than some of the other people's stories. Maybe it's because he seemed to be described as a genuinely nice guy and "the cool teacher" at school.

That Dennis Watson guy had to have killed him or hired someone else to kill him. They probably flattened one of his tires and then followed him for those two blocks and then just pulled up and demanded he get in the stolen car at gunpoint.

This is McKinley Elementary School in Arlington, Virginia. Veronica was raped and shot to death in the school yard.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Veronica.jpg

The only part of the school yard that's visible from the street is just off to the right. However, when I zoomed in, I noticed a set of stairs that seems to go behind the school. You'll recall in the reenactment, the killer forces Veronica up a flight of stairs into the school yard at gunpoint. This is just a guess on my part but maybe these are those same stairs.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Veronica2.jpg

The Giant Food Market where Veronica was seen just hours before her murder and where her car was discovered was impossible to find. I couldn't get an exact address. But reading online, I found out that 2 of their stores in Arlington were torn down and rebuilt in recent years so I can't be sure which is the right one.

How on Earth did you find the entrance to the wooded area where Hilda Roche was killed? I tried looking for it online before but I couldn't find any old articles about the murder and the UM segment only said her body was found in a field behind an elementary school. Had I known the name of the school in Alexandria, it would have been easy to find.

I did a search around the entire area and around the four schools in the town before I noticed only one school had a wooded area in the vicinity of it. I'm unsure weather that entrance is accurate but that is the wooded area. It's the only one near a school at all.

I did a search around the entire area and around the four schools in the town before I noticed only one school had a wooded area in the vicinity of it. I'm unsure weather that entrance is accurate but that is the wooded area. It's the only one near a school at all.

Ahhhh, I see. When there's no articles online about particular cases, you have find other ways of finding locations online. Good work.

I wonder if anyone could see if the big ice cream cone shape building is standing in the rebecca young case. Or roughly the area where ethel kidd was found, or the hope graves burial site in texas

The location of the Black Hope Curse Cemetery is in Crosby, TX; in the "Newport" subdivision.

The addresses referenced here - scroll down to the bottom, right above the "Poltergeist little girl" picture (http://www.squidoo.com/black-hope-cemetery) are:

15802 Poppets Court (the Sam and Judith Haney house)
and
803 Poppets Way (the Ben and Jean Williams house)

From trying to compare Google Street Views with the houses pictured in the UM re-enactment, I can't tell if they filmed it in the actual location or not.

I tried all sorts of searches on this one (I'd swear I had pinned down the location at some point last year), but justins5256 posted here (http://sitcomsonline.com/boards/showpost.php?p=2913345&postcount=30) that this one took place 30 miles from him.

He might be able to provide an address; though from what I can gather, the "Twisty Treat" (ice cream cone building referenced in the segment) is no longer in existence. That doesn't mean that the building isn't - just that the business isn't.

I've tried to find Ethel's house before but there's no information about the case online where I could even get a street name.

It was easy to find the little post office in Burr Hill, though. Ethel drives by this place in the beginning of the segment.

David and Cynthia Dowaliby's house in Midlothian, Illinois where Jaclyn was kidnapped. The house is located on 148th Place. The basement window that was broken is on the back of the house, not on the driveway like in the reenactment.

I've been researching this one for the last hour or so, and I think you have this one about pegged (on Interceptor Street, facing east, just around the corner from Belford Avenue).

Just "for the sake of argument", I'd like to throw this out there.

At the very beginning of the UM segment, Stack mentions that "on this spot, gunfire echoed down these streets". From what I can gather, it sure looks like he's standing on Belford Avenue, with the camera facing south towards Interceptor Street.

I'm about 90% confident that I've placed the red arrow at the same exact spot on the sidewalk - in both the UM segment shot, as well as the Google Maps shot.

the location of (what was then) TK Harty's Saloon in Athens, GA.

http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/ac216/brian222_2010/TKHartyUM-1.jpg

my source for the location: a pretty fascinating article (http://onlineathens.com/stories/082607/news_20070826139.shtml) on the circumstances surrounding the murder, from OnlineAthens.com. "Now the site of the Athens Community Council on Aging, T.K.'s was packed with a mix of University of Georgia students, professionals, laborers and aspiring rock stars."

You can throw this in the Connecticut River Valley Killer file.

The segment mainly focused on the attack of Jane Boroski. The other victims pictures were shown with the date of their murders but not much else other than the discoveries of Bernice Courtermanche and Ellen Fried's remains being found just 1 mile apart in the same woods. (Although, there was a brief and chilling reenactment scene that showed Ellen Fried begging for her life before being thrown to the ground and stabbed in slow motion complete with creepy music.)

On July 20, 1984, she finished her shift at Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont, NH where she worked as a nurse. She left at 11:00 p.m. and went to a payphone outside Leo's Market to call her sister in California. This is where she was eventually abducted by the killer.

Leo's Market is located on 130 Main Street in Claremont. And there is still a payphone outside...

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/EllenF1.jpg

Ellen's abduction was similar to Angela Hammond's in several ways. She didn't have a telephone in her apartment so that was why she was there in the first place. Angela's phone conversation wasn't more than several minutes or so. Ellen talked with her sister for a little over an hour. In both cases, a truck kept circling the block which made the women a little nervous. Ellen actually told her sister to a wait a minute. She dropped the phone, went to start her car and then went back to the phone to finish talking with her sister. The main difference, of course was that Angela was taken during her phone conversation while Ellen's killer waited until she hung up before abducting her. These screen shots of Leo's Market are a little better without the sunlight...

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/EllenF2.jpg

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/EllenF3.jpg

Ellen's remains were found nearly a year and half later in September 1985, approximately 8 miles away in Newport. Google street view obviously won't let you go into the woods or on dirt roads so I took this screen cap from the E Special that covered the case.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/EllenF4.jpg

Ellen's remains were found here along the Sugar River. Just like the other victims of the Valley killer, she was stabbed to death.

Is that building to the right of the card shop a carpet store (or one in the past)?

LUCIE TURMEL (Killed May 17, 1990)

This is another example of a horrible crime taking place in a beautiful location. The resort town of Banff in Alberta, Canada where Lucie was murdered is quite a sight with the Canadian Rocky Mountains in the background.

This is the Banff Springs Hotel on Spray Avenue where Lucie picked up her last fare at 1:45 a.m. Two girls and her eventual killer, Ryan Love, entered the taxi and then Lucie drove off.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Lucie1.jpg

An article I read online stated that Ryan Love had, up until recently, worked at the hotel as a housekeeper before the murder but was eventually fired. Lucie had worked there for a while the previous year.

As far as the actual attack is concerned, I assume the 2 girls were dropped off at their location and then with Ryan alone in the taxi with Lucie, he made his move. This is Squirrel Street where the murder happened. Lucie's body was left in the middle of the road.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Lucie2.jpg

An autopsy showed that Ryan began to attack her with his knife while she was still in the taxi. Lucie was able to escape the initial attack, running from the taxi, but Love chased her down and stabbed her 17 more times in the neck before leaving her for dead and stealing her cab. I still can't believe he's about to be a free man.

One more interesting note is that Nigel Patterson, the police officer who later tracked down Ryan Love and was interviewed in the UM segment, actually lived on Squirrel Street where the murder happened. He was just a block away asleep in his bed when everything went down.

I put this is the Kurt Sova thread but I thought it should be here too since it gives a better view of everything related to the case.

Bing Maps birds eye view:

In the upper right hand corner, I labeled and circled the duplex. J.L. Goodman Furniture and the ravine where Kurt's body was found are also labeled. Finally, to the far left of the picture, you'll see a street called Washington Park Blvd. That is where Angeline Reddicks looked out the window of her house and saw 2 males carrying an unconscious teenage boy into the ravine the day before Kurt's body was found. That's certainly a strange and long route to take to dump the body in the ravine. And it's in plain sight of so many homes.

WILLIAM BRADFORD BISHOP:

I could never understand before why the house wasn't visible from the street on Google Street View but looking from the bird's eye view on Bing Maps, you can see the house is hidden behind a ton of trees.

Really late to reply to this, but it's the NW corner - there's a Carl's Jr in the corner and the Office Max is where the former Albertson's supermarket was where Kathy went to buy her novel. I have pictures, trying to find them now.

Best I can remember, Molly started her shift as lifeguard that day and was alone at the pond. She disappeared within minutes. Seems like it was 15 minutes into her shift or something when swimmers showed up and found the lifeguard post empty.

I'll definitely have to double check that info because I have a terrible memory. Going to see what I can find out....

eta: Here's what mollybish.org says -

On the morning of June 27, 2000, Magi Bish drove her 16 year old daughter, Molly to her Life Guard post at a rural pond in Western Massachusetts. When swimmers arrived minutes later, the only traces of Molly were her water-bottle, sandals, a police radio and an opened first aid kit.

I forget all of the details of this case: was Molly Bish liefguarding while no one else was there that morning?

Molly's post began at 10:00 a.m. And her mother dropped her off a couple minutes before 10:00. Nobody else was there at the time. A mother and her 2 young children walked on the beach at 10:08. They saw all of Molly's belongings (her lunch, towel, flip-flops, etc.) over her lifeguard chair but Molly was already gone. So she was abducted in less than 8 minutes.

There were no signs of a struggle at the chair. The only thing that looked suspicious was that Molly's first aid kit was open. Her father thinks that the killer came out of the woods behind her and yelled that either he or a friend needed help because he was hurt. So Molly probably opened her first aid kit, ran back to the woods to help whoever she thought was injured and instead, the killer overpowered her and dragged her away through the woods that led into the cemetery. That would explain why her scent was tracked back there. An article I read online says the woods behind the beach is like a hill. You can lay on the ground from a high distance, have a perfect view of the beach and not be detected.

This whole abduction was very planned out. That's why I think the man Molly's mother saw at the beach entrance the day before might be the actual kidnapper. I think he was watching her routine so he knew what time she usually arrived for work. He knew that the beach was pretty much deserted at that time of morning. And he struck from behind her on the beach, a view nobody could see from the entrance, so Molly's mother wouldn't be concerned.

The truly scary part about this crime is how fast it happened. If the mother and her two little kids had arrived at the beach a few minutes earlier, Molly would still probably be alive today.

LARRY DICKENS / EDWARD HAROLD BELL:

I found the location of Larry's terrible murder and it's interesting to note that Unsolved Mysteries filmed the reenactment at Dorothy Lang's house, where the actual crime happened.

This is the intersection of Oaks Drive and Handell Lane in Pasadena, Texas where the neighborhood boys were playing when Bell pulled up in his truck.

From this angle, you can see Dorothy's house (to the right) and the kitchen window where she was standing and got a perfect view of Bell when he parked his truck and walked towards the boys.

DOCTOR JOHN BRANION:

It really helps when segments have maps. And after a little searching online, I was able to find the exact addresses.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Branion4.jpg

This run down old building was Branion's clinic. It's located at 5027 South Prairie Street. Branion claimed he left here at 11:30 a.m. on December 22, 1967. He exchanged words with the clinic administrator just outside the building and then left to pick up his son from nursery school. It's kind of sad that this was considered a nice neighborhood in 1967.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/Branion2.jpg

This was Branion's son's school located at 5470 South Kenwood Avenue. The son's teacher verified that Branion arrived at 11:40.

Branion's apartment building and the scene of the crime, where Donna was murdered. The address is 5054 South Woodlawn Avenue.

THRILL KILLER / ERIC JOYCE LEONARD

In Sacramento, California, Leonard went on his killing spree.

On February 12, 1991, he killed Stephen Anderson, Zaid Ahmed Obeid and Thor Johnson Sr. at the Quick Stop Convenience Store located at 3700 Auburn Blvd. Johnson was shot right outside the front door.

Exactly one week later, close to the same hour, Leonard killed 3 more people at the Round Table Pizza Parlor also located in Sacramento at 3227 Watt Avenue. The victims were Sarah Cook, Kyle Reynolds and Andrea Coldangelo. The business is now called Straw Hat Pizza.

I 70 KILLER:

April 8, 1992, Indianapolis, Ind. – Victim Robin Fuldauer, age 26, was working at a Payless shoe store at 7235 Pendleton Pike. Fuldauer’s body was discovered in the store at about 2 p.m. A small amount of money was missing from the store.

Today, half the strip mall has been removed and it's now a Big K.

April 11, 1992, Wichita, Kan. – Victims Patricia Magers, age 32, and Patricia Smith, 23, were working at the La Bridal shop, 4613 E. Kellogg. Their bodies were found in the store at about 6:30 p.m. Money was missing from the shop, along with some personal property belonging to one of the victims.

This is a huge strip mall. I have no idea where the bridal shop was and it has since gone out of business.

http://i922.photobucket.com/albums/ad64/andy80_bucket/70-2.jpg

April 27, 1992, Terre Haute, Ind.– Michael McCown, 40, was killed in his shop, Sylvia’s Ceramics, 2615 S. 3rd Street. His body was discovered by a customer at about 4:15 p.m. McCown was the only male victim in this series. Because of all the circumstances – including the fact that he wore his hair very long – police assessed that the killer, watching from outside, mistook McCown for a woman until he entered the store.

According to google maps, this is where the ceramics store is today. It's now called Mike's Market.

May 3, 1992, St. Charles, Mo. – Nancy Kitzmiller, age 24, a graduate of Fort Zumwalt High School and Oklahoma State University was found by customers in the back room of Boot Village, 2079 Zumbehl Road in Bogey Hills Plaza, at about 2:30 p.m. Cash was missing from the store.

This is the strip mall today. No clue on where Boot Village used to be.

May 7, 1992, Raytown, Mo.– Sarah Blessing, age 37, was killed at the Store of Many Colors, 11573 E. 63rd Street at about 6:30 p.m. A small amount of money was missing from the register.

I just posted this last night in the Kathy Hobbs thread, but wanted to repost here:

Okay, I FINALLY am 100% positive I found Kathy Hobbs apartment and the other key point from the segment. I was re-watching the segment, and when they show the tv news segment, I tried to listen as closely as I could to the background noise. I heard something that said "mesa" I looked in the area and desert inn and maryland and sure enough, I found a road a couple of blocks away that was "silver mesa." I street viewed it and voila, this is it! If you look at the apartments, the windows in particular, and compare to the segment, this is it. At the end of the cul-de-sac of apartments, it looks as if there is a pool if you google earth it. Also, the second image, which is the alley right behind the apartments, is where kathy was filmed walking in the back alley. If you note in the segment, there is a "cement wall" on one side of the alley and the backs of apartments on the other. See below!

Wow, thanks! Amy Billig-case is one of my pet cases. I felt so bad for her mother.

There's a ton of articles about the case in the google news archive from the 70's and 80's. I was surprised to learn that in the 3 months that followed Amy's disappearance, the Billig's got close to a hundred prank phone calls in response to the missing person posters that were displayed throughout the city. One included an extortion attempt for $30,000 from twin 16 year old boys, who had no criminal record of their own. They had no idea where Amy was, they just thought they would try to get some "easy" cash.

I don't know how Amy's mother could have survived those first couple of months, much less the decades that followed, without going crazy.

I guess people were just as cruel 40 years ago as they can be today.
