No. I think if they never got together, it would have jumped the shark.

And they were leading up to them getting together anyway. His love for her was written to be an entire series arch. Heck, I fell in love with this show BECAUSE of Niles and Daphne.

I agree though that a lot of shows go downhill after a couple gets together but this was so wonderfully written that it just made me swoon. And I haven't even seen the entire series yet! I'm just on Season 6! I had seen some of the later episodes before, though.
