View Full Version : Darrin the hippie nancy77 02-05-2011, 09:24 PM i am thanking there was a episode about darrin as a hippie anyone know the name of it:wave: DemandYourPickle 02-06-2011, 02:57 AM You're probably thinking of the season 5 episode, "Mirror, Mirror On The Wall." :) nancy77 02-06-2011, 12:22 PM yes that was it thamk you so much DemandYourPickle 02-06-2011, 12:56 PM :) No problem! MickeyMac 02-06-2011, 02:06 PM He wasnt so much a hippie, but to me looked like a really bad Elvis impersonator. novarrofan 02-17-2011, 06:19 AM Dick York was hilarious in that episode, one of his funniest for sure. I still crack up at the Gold lame suit and the fake Elvis sideburns!!! He wasnt so much a hippie, but to me looked like a really bad Elvis impersonator. catlover79 02-18-2011, 03:17 AM Indeed a great, funny episode all around. Yes, I loved Darrin's gold lame Elvis-style suit and sideburns, and I thought that Sam's glittery, silver getup was pretty groovy, too!!!  catlover79 02-18-2011, 03:19 AM All this, plus a cameo from Liz's (then) real-life hubby, Bewitched director/producer, William Asher: novarrofan 02-18-2011, 11:05 PM I thought Elizabeth looked absolutely sensational throughout that hilarious episode "Mirror Mirror on the Wall" She starts off in one of my favourite of her outfits, the white summer dress with the big pink flowers on it (which she also wore in the Weep My Willow laugh/cry episode) and then when she is in that totally groovy silver gown for the night at the Tates which starts out long and then is zapped into a mini. Wow!!! :-)) Indeed a great, funny episode all around. Yes, I loved Darrin's gold lame Elvis-style suit and sideburns, and I thought that Sam's glittery, silver getup was pretty groovy, too!!!  catlover79 02-19-2011, 02:15 AM I LOVE that flowered dress!!! :D MickeyMac 02-19-2011, 01:00 PM Yeah I like both outfits too. catlover79 02-19-2011, 01:16 PM Yeah I like both outfits too. You just like when the skirt on Sam's silvery, glittery gown gets shorter and shorter. Admit it, Mickey!! MickeyMac 02-19-2011, 01:37 PM You just like when the skirt on Sam's silvery, glittery gown gets shorter and shorter. Admit it, Mickey!! Guilty :D catlover79 02-19-2011, 01:40 PM Guilty :D See, I knew we had you dead to rights!! biffbronson 02-21-2011, 07:35 AM You just like when the skirt on Sam's silvery, glittery gown gets shorter and shorter. Admit it, Mickey!! It's also nice that Liz had long hair that season. She later had it cut --before going to longer lengths yet, very late in the series. Anyway, short skirts are always a plus! catlover79 02-21-2011, 01:07 PM It's also nice that Liz had long hair that season. She later had it cut --before going to longer lengths yet, very late in the series. Anyway, short skirts are always a plus! Yes, I've heard a lot of guys say that. novarrofan 02-21-2011, 08:34 PM While I hated the hairstyles and clothes for Elizabeth during the last season (among many other dislikes I have for that tired season) I actually prefer the longer dresses Elizabeth wore in seasons three and four. She had great legs but I definitely always prefer the 1960's fashions she wore. With "Bewitched" having such a long run it really provides an interesting running commentary on changing fashions for woman AND men from 1963 when the pilot was made right through to the start of the swinging '70's when the series ended in mid 1972 PS . Also NO ONE wore casual house trousers and slip on shoes like Elizabeth. "Cheap Cheap" has a great outfit for Elizabeth in the early scenes when she is talking to Darrin on the phone, casual but incredibly sexy. It's also nice that Liz had long hair that season. She later had it cut --before going to longer lengths yet, very late in the series. Anyway, short skirts are always a plus! catlover79 03-03-2011, 01:14 AM Liz could wear anything and look great. In fact, I remember reading that many of the clothes she wore in character as Samantha were from her very own wardrobe. :D Tap Dancer 03-06-2011, 01:48 PM I LOVE that flowered dress!!! :D So do I! :D catlover79 03-06-2011, 04:23 PM I so wish I could have a dress exactly like that (and I don't even like to wear dresses!!). :D novarrofan 03-07-2011, 07:57 AM They sometimes were. Elizabeth/Sam's most elegant moment I believe was in the season three halloween episode when Samantha wears that sensational black strapless gown with her hair all bound up like a Greek Goddess. Wow is all I can say. I wonder if that outfit belonged to Elizabeth? Liz could wear anything and look great. In fact, I remember reading that many of the clothes she wore in character as Samantha were from her very own wardrobe. :D catlover79 03-07-2011, 08:23 AM I don't know, but I believe the pink Grecian dress was really Liz's. catlover79 03-08-2011, 02:16 AM Ooooh, I found more pics of the flowered dress!!! :D catlover79 03-08-2011, 02:19 AM They sometimes were. Elizabeth/Sam's most elegant moment I believe was in the season three halloween episode when Samantha wears that sensational black strapless gown with her hair all bound up like a Greek Goddess. Wow is all I can say. I wonder if that outfit belonged to Elizabeth? I found some pics of that dress!! catlover79 03-09-2011, 01:48 AM One more shot of the black dress: biffbronson 03-09-2011, 09:28 AM Dick York looks pretty sharp in these images. I'll always remember his comment from before his death: "I'm in your living room." It's great that he's remembered so well. It's funny to read the comments on the Imdb board from someone who doesn't care for his looks at all, to put it mildly. And I doubt that she thought Sargent was a great improvement either! DemandYourPickle 03-09-2011, 12:19 PM  How did we go from "Darrin the hippie" to pictures of dresses? catlover79 03-09-2011, 05:55 PM It always veers a little off the topic, but it's still fun!! MickeyMac 03-09-2011, 07:10 PM Obviously Liz had taste. I bet a lot of women were copying her look. catlover79 03-09-2011, 09:09 PM I would've, had I been around back then!! novarrofan 03-12-2011, 12:47 AM Well it wasn't off topic as we started talking about all the great "hip" clothes in "Mirror Mirror on the Wall" and how cool Elizabeth looked. Discussion of the flowered pink dress and the black evening gown flowed on naturally even if they are from different episodes. It always veers a little off the topic, but it's still fun!! catlover79 03-21-2011, 02:19 PM Here are a few more pics of Liz in the silver dress: The Great One 03-21-2011, 02:42 PM Elizabeth was a beautiful woman and she had an awesome hair style!!! catlover79 03-21-2011, 02:58 PM She was the personification of "photogenic" - did the woman ever take a bad photo, ever?? The Great One 03-21-2011, 03:49 PM I agree! She was definitely photogenic and had a "wow" factor to her personality!!! faraj 04-13-2011, 03:28 PM That was the first Bewitched I saw on TBS 22 yrs. ago in Sept. FantasyLove22 07-04-2012, 09:06 AM It's funny to read the comments on the Imdb board from someone who doesn't care for his looks at all, to put it mildly. No one likes the truth now do they? He's alright on a list of weird crushes though. |
