News hit Twitter this weekend that Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! icon Tura Satana passed away yesterday at 5pm PST in Reno NV. She was 75.

It was first reported on her manager Siouxzan Perry's Facebook page, although an official release has yet to be posted.




Tura Satana (born July 10, 1935) is a Japanese-born American actress and former exotic dancer.

She is known for her role as "Varla" in Russ Meyer's 1965 cult film, Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!. Varla was a very aggressive and sexual female character for which she did all of her own stunts and fight scenes.

Renowned film critic Richard Corliss called her performance "...the most honest, maybe the one honest portrayal in the Meyer canon and certainly the scariest."



Other notable roles include The Astro-Zombies (1969) and The Doll Squad (1974).

Faster Pussycat Kill Kill is an awesome kick ass 60's flick. Should be viewed by all, and one of Russ Meyer's best


She will be missed.:(

I got to see Faster Pussycat Kill Kill on the big screen back in the early 90's.

I grew up seeing her and Russ Meyer's films as my dad was(and still is) a huge fan of Russ Meyers' films.
