It was filmed in color, Lily was originally Phoebe & played by Joan Marshall & Eddie was played by Nate Derman instead of Butch Patrick.

Probably not, for several reasons. First, I couldn't stand Happy Derman as
Eddie (what overacting!). Second, Yvonne DeCarlo made a much better Lily.
There was no chemistry between Joan Marshall and Fred Gwynne. And,
finally, the LAST thing Al Lewis needed was a nose extension! (LOL)

Another reason why this wouldnt have worked is because they made Joan Marshall look too much like Morticia Addams.

Since I have the DVD set now and have watched the pilot a few times, I don't think I would ever have wanted to see another episode with "Eddie" in it. That first kid was nasty and too much of a real monster to fit in with the family. I also thought something was missing from the first Lily, but I didn't mind seeing her as much :-)
