Another piece falls into place on ABC’s Charlie’s Angels project: Marcos Siega has closed a deal to direct the pilot.

Siega helped get The CW’s Vampire Diaries off the ground with a strong first episode, and has also directed episodes of Showtime’s Dexter, CBS’ Cold Case and CW’s Veronica Mars. Siega was tapped by his fellow CW veterans, Angels‘ writing-producing team Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (who, of course, created Smallville).

The Angels re-boot firmed up its much-buzzed-about trio of leads on Friday, adding Minka Kelly and Rachael Taylor to the previously announced Annie Ilonzeh
