Charlie Sheen's uncle has reportedly launched an attempt to take over the starring role in Two And A Half Men while his nephew is in rehab.

Joe Estevez, brother of screen legend Martin Sheen, is believed to have contacted CBS about filling the spot left vacant by his better-known relative, who checked into an unnamed facility on Friday following an alleged three-day drug binge.

E! Online reports that Estevez's manager pitched to bosses behind the sitcom: "Just a wild thought... How about a test episode of Two and A Half Men, where Joe [Estevez] comes to housesit while Charlie is on 'vacation'. Your writers could have a ball with this."

Estevez is also allegedly described as "by far the funniest of the Sheen and Estevez clan".

CBS confirmed on Friday that Two And A Half Men will go on a production hiatus during Sheen's absence. The network has not yet commented on Estevez's suggestion.

That's an interesting idea. I've been thinking that Charlie's brother Emilio Estevez Jr. would be a good candidate to fill in for him while he is in rehab.

I say don't have anybody fill in for him while hes in rehab. Keep the show on Hiatus. If you try to replace him it will hurt the raitings and the show would never be the same again

I agree with you. I say shut down the show for the rest of the season. Casting another actor to stand in for Charlie will be a tough move.

That being said, CBS wil not walk away from the money the show brings, so I'm guessing the show will continue and Charlie will be "on vacation" for a lot for the rest of the season.

Emilio Estevez was in an episode. He played one of Charlies old friends, he died, be kinda weird to bring him back.
