Of Jimi Hendrix's three original studio albums (Are You Experienced?, Axis: Bold As Love, Electric Ladyland), which is your personal favorite?

My favorite is wihtout a double Are You Experienced?. This album changed the face of rock n' roll forever and how the guitar can be played. The album is filled with passion, power and raw energy. It also features some of Jimi's best songs like "Purple Haze", "Manic Depression", "The Wind Crys Mary", "Fire", "Foxy Lady" and "Stone Free". Are You Experienced is one of the greatest albums ever recorded

You forgot to put the Band Of Gypsys album on the poll. This was his first album after the breakup of The Experience. The albums you posted there are all by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Band Of Gypsys was his short-lived band before his passing in 1970.

Band of Gypsys has now been added to the poll

Band of Gypsys is a live album though. I was only talking about studio albums.

I'd have to go with "Electric Ladyland" and no...it's NOT because of the cover that Hendrix objected to (19 Ladies without clothes, It's a NSFW album), but because of...

I like them all, but I think Ladyland has his best work.

Electric Ladyland is a hell of an album. I would certainly rank it a close second. Axis is something of a disappointment though.

There are certainly some good songs on the album like "Little Wing", "Castles Made Of Sand", "If 6 Was 9" and the title track but overall I don't think that it measures up to the other two.

I have to admit I think Axis is a great album, that ranks with his other two.

Also some of the posthomus (or however you spell it) are worth checking out.

Valleys of Neptunewhich came out last year has some great stuff. Also The BBC Session is pretty amazing too. He does a great renditon of "Day Tripper", and jams with Stevie Wonder (who sits in on drums).

Also the new boxed set West Coast Seattle Boy is great too. Lots of great unreleased stuff, and some good early session work with the likes of Little Richard and the Isley Brothers. That will set you back about $60, but its worth every cent. I got mine on vinyl (8 records).

I have Valleys of Neptune and BBC Sessions, and I think that they are both really good. I also love his cover of "Day Tripper". I have the single disc West Coast Seattle Boy and think its great. There are some really good songs on there!

My favorite song from the "AXIS: Bold as Love" album is actually the last song on the album....
