I checked out the schedule for this new network and it is great. The one show missing is Archie Bunker's Place. I can't wait to get my cable back so I can watch it. Whatever you do Antenna TV, DO NOT SELL OUT! MAKE IT WORK! ;)

Yeah,so far it's a good tv station. And of course ME-TV is on the way also, and they seem even better.Just a guess of course, but I think maybe one of the reasons Hot In Clevelands ratings took a nosedive and probably will continue to fall is because people were and will be watching Antenna-TV instead.

That station is awesome! My husband found it one night and now I always find him watching "The Monkees". Love that show! That is definitely a great station-that and RTV (Retro-TV). Makes me think that ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX are just letters of the alphabet!

Any idea when it comes to Seattle. I thought it was supposed to start on Jan 1st,

I will give Antenna TV 6 mos. before I declare them the "New" TV Land. Although they show some unseen classics( Dennis the Menace , Father Knows Best , Hazel , Too close For Comfort , Benny Hill ) , they still show sitcoms seen on TV Land (Good Times , Sanford and Son, (at the same time), All in the Family , Married with Children and The Nanny. Plus they show too many movies for me. But I give them credit for being new and trying this format and I do watch it on a daily basis , I also like that there is no Station Bug on the screen .

I'm anxiously awaiting AntennaTV's premiere on Dallas tv station 33.2. Once that station's on the air, I then have to talk AT&T U-Verse into carrying it, since from what I've seen U-Verse doesn't carry any of the local tv station subchannels.

ThomasE, if you have an antenna, you can get it that way. You don't have to have cable. You're in NYC, so you should be able to get it on WPIX.

It's probably just a matter of time until they start showing a station ID bug on the screen. I've been watching Dennis The Menace and Hazel, the episodes are edited. Antenna TV is OK but I think Me-TV does it a little better, some shows on Me-TV are complete and unedited. I'm waiting for Antenna TV to air long unseen shows as promised like Circus Boy and Iron Horse.

I was anxiously waiting for our cable provider to pick this up, but now I'm not; since they show edited episodes, and they probably have those split-screen credits, too.

Do they also show vintage commercials, etc. like TV LAND:barf: used to?

I'm still waiting for The Farmer's Daughter.

On their facebook page yesterday, they responded to a poster, saying they're waiting for the "tapes" to come in.

Antenna TV - Tribune Broadcasting Company: We will have Farmer's Daughter. We do not have any of the tapes yet, but it will be on the schedule at a future date.

I thought that was a strange word to use, considering we're living in the digital age. Does that mean the studio has been providing them with old videotape masters that they used in the 1980s?

Anyone know if Antenna TV is or will be available in California?

Just as long as they don't start the reality crap of today, I don't care if they show 90s shows or use an on-screen bug. I'm thinking they are mixing these shows (the 90s ones) with the old ones to see what works. I can't wait to see down the road when Antenna TV shuffles the schedule to see what stays, what goes, and if they add anything else. I'm hoping they can get the tapes in for "Burns and Allen". I may have to wait to see Antenna TV until March at the latest, so I can wait for that. Hopefully, they will still show "Maude".

No, they don't: http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2010/12/our-exclusive-interview-with-antenna.html And the edited episodes are the standard syndicated prints from the '80s. So it isn't that bad.

This will explain it: http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2010/12/antenna-tv-launch-schedule-changes.html

And comedyfreak, yes it is in California on KTLA: www.antennatv.tv/affiliates

Paven, I understand that some of the old shows needed to be remastered.

What I meant was: why do they keep referring to them as "tapes". I would think everything would be digital now.

I guess the network is still using videotapes?

NEWSBREAK: I'm watching Hazel, and KTLA in Los Angeles just put up an on-screen bug in the lower right-hand corner! It's the antenna logo with KTLA 5.2 underneath! :thumbsdow :cuss: ticked:

LOL I'm not one to say I told you so, but I figured it would happen sooner or later. When Me-TV was new, they didn't have an on screen bug at first either but it didn't take too long for one to appear.

Ronny G
01-26-2011, 05:24 PM
Antenna TV said they wouldn't put up bugs, so it was probably just KTLA's decision and not Antenna TV's.
It was nice while it lasted.
Actually, I'm not too surprised because KTLA also has their bug on Antenna TV's neighbor, This TV 5.3.

I'm curious to find out if the other affiliates have bugs!

I believe the on-screen bugs are put on by the affiliate. I would think most affiliates will add bugs eventually.

Pavan
01-26-2011, 05:42 PM
WPIX is bug-free. It is the affiliate's call to add a bug or not. As for the tapes, those rare series like Circus Boy and Farmer's Daughter are on film so they are in process of converting them to digital. So, yes it's not really tapes.

Here's what the bug looks like if anyone's interested.
(The station logo, that is--not the actress.)

6pm-maude
6:30pm-maude
7pm-good times
7:30pm-good times
8pm-sanford and son
8:30pm-sanford and son
9pm-all in the famiy

My problem is the F*cking NANNY at 11pm and No Jeffersons at all

Pavan

Agree Solomon. I would put The Jeffersons at 10 and slide Married...with Children to 11 leading into the Three's Company encore at 12. The Nanny is the only show that I feel that doesn't belong on the network. I wish Too Close for Comfort aired more, though.

Yup that would work perfectly since all the shows would be connected starting from 6pm-11pm

Pav, I have Cablevision.

How do I find Antenna TV?

I have one tv not hooked up to a box, but I don't think it gets on 11.2 or whatever.

Pavan

Not sure yet if Cablevision has added it. So for now the only way you can watch is on 11.4. Try moving the antenna around. It should pick it up.

Pavan

I think more Cablevision providers are now adding it. Check Channel 114. It's been added in CT and NYC on that channel.

Antenna TV started showing the 2nd season episodes of Hazel today. I would have recorded these, but the episodes are edited so it's useless to record them. The wait goes on for the series to continue uncut on DVD.

Well, I think Antenna TV is great. It didn't launch here in Memphis until January 7th due to a technical issue, but it has great shows. The first week we had it it didn't have a bug, but WREG added one shortly after. It has the Antenna TV logo and an old Channel 3 logo from the 70s, as it's on 3-3. The shows are edited some, but not anywhere as bad as TV Land, and thank goodness, the credits are all shown and none of those stupid credit crunches. I don't care about the movies shown in the mornings, but I love watching the Partridge Family, Three's Company, Too Close for Comfort, Maude, Good Times, Sanford and Son, and All in the Family. I was never much of a fan of Married with Children. I like the Nanny ok, but I don't see why they show it since TV Land overplays it. I wish they would show The Jeffersons and One Day at a Time, since they have all the other Norman Lear shows. I also hope that they will show Diff'rent Strokes, The Facts of Life, Who's the Boss, and 227 at some point as well. I also wish they would show The Brady Bunch, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, and Family Ties, since their either not on cable at all, or only showing a channel that requires an expensive package to have.

I thought the point of this channel was to be unlike TV Land and N@N

Brady Bunch, Happy Days, and Laverne & Shirley are on MeTV which will hopefully be more widespread soon.

I don't see anything wrong with the bug, myself. I don't mind them showing The Nanny either, it's not on many broadcast channels anymore (it used to air in that syndication block with Mad About You)...it's no different than them showing Good Times and Sanford & Son, both are on TV Land AND TV One.
