View Full Version : Sharon Kinne
Wow, she's still on the lam.
What are your theories on where she fled after escaping from the Mexican prison? Do you think she's still alive?

My grandfather was one of the lead investigators that brought murder charges against her. He said he knew she was full of crap with her story about the child shooting her husband. He got to know her pretty well. I asked him about this case the other day and according to him the mexicans took care of her. Who knows.
My grandfather was interviewed by UM but his segment did not air. They recently called him again and he declined to speak to them.

Wow, that's really interesting about your grandfather.
It's really amazing how she was able to wiggle her way out of all those situations.... that all-male jury was ridiculous. We're talking about murder here! Just because she gave them all a hard-on, they let her off.
I tend to think she's dead, but who knows
I believe she'd be in her 70s today.

Yes he said she was a natural born actress and charmer. Cold blooded killer also ofcourse. My grandfather had said that she had some family up in Alaska and there where rumours she was hiding out up there. But he honestly beileves she was killed in Mexico.
Drakken 01-25-2011, 03:38 PM I believe she is dead as well. She was either killed in Mexico or, if she did escape, she died of exposure. She was alone with no money, and probably a bounty on her head. She wasn't that smart, her excuses in all of her murders were excedingly foolish and when you see through her mask of sex-appeal and femme fatale she couldn't fool anyone.
It is also perfectly possible she never left that Mexican prison alive. She could have been a victim of extrajudiciary killing because she was too dangerous a woman, and she might have been causing trouble inside the jail. It is reported that she was a bully extremely feared by other inmates and she didn't have any friends, so it's possible that she ended up shanked and the guards made up this "evasion" story to avoid problems with American authorities, which were still looking for extradition, or the guards killed her because she was a troublesome little gringo bitch, or they were payed to make sure she didn't come out alive.
We are talking about Mexico here, a country in which Nyleen Kay Marshall's mother was raped and murdered while visiting a house for sale, where she was found hanged with a belt around the neck, and its authorities had the gall to rule it was suicide. I have no confidence whatsoever in their reports unless it is backed by more incompetence-proof authorities. I think the US government still puts her under wanted status here because while they have hearsays that she is dead, they have no concrete proof nor corpus delicti that she has been murdered.
First, she may have been a calculating sociopath, but she was the impulsive, promiscuous, living-on-the-fast-lane type of woman. What she wanted was money and whoever and whatever she desired, now. If she had been alive she would have left a trace somewhere, she would have made a mistake somewhere. Plus she wouldn't have stopped killing, she was addicted to the thrill.
Second, what is not mentioned in the segment is that she exhibits a red wine mark on the left side of the face. That mark is highly visible, and would make her recognizable to anyone remotely looking for her.
burbqueen 01-25-2011, 04:58 PM why isnt there a movie about this lady? wow this is a interesting story.

so...what happened to her?
kane7474 03-29-2011, 03:17 AM so...what happened to her?
Well no one knows. She was last known to be in a jail in mexico. They say she escaped and was never heard from again.

sorry about your grandfather. That is interesting about the picture.
I feel that Sharon Kinne may have been the first female serial killer in the U.S., a title that usually gets reserved for Aileen Wuornos, who didn't come around until DECADES after Sharon Kinne.
If not dead she is currently seducing men at assisted living facilities.
James T 05-12-2015, 05:15 PM I seem to remember the actress portraying her being very attractive-far more than the pictures of her.

He is the one pointing . Yes he interacted with her alot. He was one of the investigators that went to the home when she claimed her daughter had shot the husband. She actually threatened him at one time

She is the woman that inspired Sharon Stone's character in "Basic Instinct."
Kinne was actually kind of a celebrity which is how she managed to stay free for so long. The jurors loved her and actually asked for her autograph after the trial.
Makes me wonder what her childhood was like. She seemed like a very smart and attractive woman and something obviously went wrong somewhere.

I think she was born a sociopath. The fact that she happened to be charismatic and attractive only helped her to get what she wanted from people...

She reminds me in ways of a female ted bundy. Charismatic and charming but a ruthless killer in the inside
Victoria81 06-24-2015, 01:50 PM She had a daughter. has her daughter ever been interviewed or spoke out?
Nice picture indeed!

You mean, the daughter Sharon tried to frame for the murder of her husband (aka, the child's father)?
I would hope they've left the poor little one alone. She's been through enough.
Totally agree with you about the "female Ted Bundy" thing, Kane7474.

Yes, that daughter.
DazzlerSparkler 06-25-2015, 12:24 AM Yes, that daughter.
Reckless gun usage....she's probably too embarrassed to talk about it like cricci said. Being framed for the utmost impossible task of making it look like you killed your dad is something im sure she wants to forget...if she remembers it.
Anyway, how did she threaten your grandfather?

I am not sure if the daughter has ever been contacted. I would wonder how much she actually remembered.
The re-enactment with the daughter playing with the gun was freaking terrifying, in case any of you guys have forgotten about it.

I thought it was cheesy and laughable....ish.
"DADDY SHOW ME DIS SHOW ME DIS"
The whole segment is my alltime favorite though (as you can guess) because after that we get Sharon taking Shelley Duvall-I mean....the guy she wanted to get her hands on's wife out for a drive.
Then later they go a searching and she's all "OH MY GOODNESS WHAT'S THAT OBVIOUSLY NOT SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE FORREST THING OVER THERE?"
And then later of course margaritttaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaass.
DazzlerSparkler 07-18-2015, 01:57 AM I still can't get over that picture. It gives me goosebumps. Especially knowing she threatened that man next to her.

She's going to come after you for that profile pic!
But seriously, that photo gives me chills, too. This woman is completely cruel and methodical. I do wonder if she's alive and perhaps preying on older men for money or whatnot.
Her daughter would be nearly 60 years old. Hopefully she has been able to have a happy life despite her mother's life of crime and blaming her for shooting her father. I didn't realize that she had three children total. I wonder how they are doing.

I might google to see if I can find anything about her daughter.
It still baffles me how she was able to escape that cell. This isn't Catwoman, you can't just slip through cell bars lol.
I believe that theory she was killed in Mexico. Perhaps when she escaped she came across a group and asked for help or something, they refused and she got angry. Then they decided to do away with her......
It says her nickname was La Pistolera.
atomicfizz 07-20-2015, 01:58 PM I don't remember seeing her on UM but I have seen her story on Deadly Women. The reenactment on there when she is in jail in Mexico is funny. Yes, they called her La Pistolera, and according to this show she was feared by other inmates and would walk by them a do a gun motion with her hand and laugh her ass off. The reenactments on DW are generally pretty cheesy if you haven't seen it. Some of them give UM a run for their money, even though DW is a current show. You also notice a lot of it's filmed in Australia and some of the recreation actors don't even bother to try an American accent. The show is horrifying and hilarious at the same time.

She got a moment alone with him and said that when she got out she would kill him. My grand father always felt like she was killed in Mexico because if she was alive she would try to make good on the threat .

I agree with your grandfather. I haven't changed my mind on her ultimate fate.
My take is, she pissed off an inmate or a guard in that prison and was killed and disposed of. If she did indeed escape, she died of exposure or by foul play in Mexico. No way that kind of woman would have stayed under the radar for so long if alive.

Ya most likely. Though he did mention she had some family in Alaska and she she was hiding out anywhere it would most likely be there.
Austin023 01-13-2017, 08:49 AM She is most likely dead and was probably either killed or died soon after she went missing from the prison down in Mexico. Based on her previous actions and her general personality, I would find it highly doubtful she could remain undetected as a fugitive for so long.
I am more of the opinion that Sharon was killed in the prison and the body disposed of. She likely crossed someone--either another inmate or guard-- and was killed. Even if she had successfully escaped the prison itself, just getting out of Mexico would had been quite hard and fraught with risk in itself, even back in 1969/1970. I doubt she would had been able to 'hide out' for long in Mexico, either for obvious reasons.
kane7474 10-08-2017, 05:13 PM Gojng thru the case file my grandfather had on kinne found a pic of her as a child and another of her and him
unsolved243 11-22-2017, 12:55 PM I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but one of Sharon Kinne's attorneys actually represented another Unsolved Mysteries fugitive.
Alex Peebles, a well-known Kansas City defense lawyer, also worked with UM fugitive Mike Cline before he vanished, accused of murdering his pregnant girlfriend. Cline, along with Kinne, has never been found. He was featured briefly in an FBI alert.

I really, really recommend this series (on Hulu USA, not the newest season however) if you are into crimes created in the middle half of last century.
Kane, it would seem those pictures you have are probably worth a lot to someone. I doubt there are many original, early pictures of her circulating around today.
DazzlerSparkler 12-14-2017, 03:28 AM I'm convinced Janet is Sharon. She somehow sucked the life put of some poor girl, possibly learned from watching Hocus Pocus or Stardust.
Kane you really do have some very valuable things. Hold on to them forever.
spiraleyes 10-28-2019, 12:09 AM Wow... a lot of interesting posts and historical pictures on this thread. I must have missed this while watching Unsolved Mysteries Season 10 Episode 6 on Prime.
Anyone have the original airing of this segment? May 29, 1998.
This episode also had Richard Anderson's murder on it.
I'm sure Kinne is alive.
If anyone has the original a broadcast, please reach out to me.
Thanks!
TheCars1986 10-01-2020, 11:40 AM The problem with the theory of Kinne escaping Mexico and making it to the United States to then go into hiding forever, would mean that she's either alive at 81 years old, or that at some point since her escape has died. If she's alive, who is taking care of her and not coming forward (since most of her family at the time of her escape would also be dead or elderly as well)? If she's dead, where is her body and how did it get buried? And if she's alive, why wasn't there a trail of bodies that followed her wherever she went?
