I know JJ took a lot of heat for all his silliness, but in the end, he was a go getter that eventually wound up a successful comic artist. Michael went on to law school (nuff said!) As for Thelma, she married an alcoholic football player that showed he was not above slapping her. She was perhaps the smartest out of the three and she basically gave up her education to become a housewife. Do you consider her somewhat of a disappointment?

I'm not disappointed in her decision to become a housewife, she did it for love. It worked out Keith overcame his problems and by the last episode he got picked up to play pro football.

I would have liked to see her go to dance school, do modeling, start a business, or something like that. Having a family is nice too though. Plus, she married, THEN became pregnant. Maybe that was a message to the people who looked up to Thelma.

I don't think she was a disappointment. Being a loving mother and wife is a wonderful pursuit, and lots of hard work, too. Besides, who's to say that at some point she DIDN'T go to college and later begin a career? She was only about 22 when the series ended; she had a lot of life left!
