I've seen a couple of episodes with Peter and a giant chicken fighting to the death. Is there some reasoning behind it or is it just something so completely random & silly?

I just seen the Family guy vol 1 dvd and it showed how their feud started. There is supposed to be a man in a chicken suit who gives Peter a coupon, when Peter tries to redeem the coupon he finds out it has expired. This enrages him and they start fighting. So it now makes sense to me now.

actually one of our neighbors (the bad one that refused to let his dogs inside no matter how cold or wet it got) moved and left their chicken in a cage in their back yard, so i was feeding it hamburger buns through the fence and trying to take care of it for the past couple of weeks. I started talking to it and nicknamed it Clucky, and my dog likes visiting it (but can't figure out just WHAT it is) and even though Clucky sees me coming and knows I'm going to feed it and give it attention, it still acts hostile and tries lunging at me.

So I think I get it now.
