This seven-year series knew when to call it quits, but not before launching two spinoffs, “Rhoda,” starring Valerie Harper, and “Phyllis,” starring Cloris Leachman. Leachman won an Oscar for “The Last Picture Show” while she was on “MTM” and starred in the classic Mel Brooks films “High Anxiety and “Young Frankenstein” before she served ham on “Dancing With The Stars.” Gavin McLeod went on to star on “The Love Boat” and weatherman Ted Knight was in “Too Close For Comfort.” Moore went onto star in films, plays and a couple of TV series, but the longevity prize goes to Betty White, who came late to the party on “MTM,” but hit her stride in “The Golden Girls” and then an Emmy-winning appearance on “Saturday Night Live.”

Without question my favorite post-MTM series (and in my top 5 of all time) series is The Golden Girls. The first 5 seasons of that series are comedy gold! Plus the combination of Betty White, Bea Arthur, Rue McClannahan and Estelle Getty was genius in casting.

I would say Valerie/Valerie's Family/Hogan Family. It's too bad behind the scenes disagreements meant that Valerie left this series early on in its run.

I did enjoy the MTM variety shows she did. It would had been a hit if it was on in its heyday of them but right after Carol Burnett went off the genre of variety shows was dying and you do not see them making a comeback in any form.

I liked Valerie and I wish too things could had worked out between Valerie and the producers. She was good in that role.

Of course, the Golden Girls.

OH Nuts!

Anything with Betty White is nothing short of wonderful. So I vote for The Golden Girls. And her colleagues weren't bad either! God Bless Her, 89 and still going strong and batting out hits. She is the best.
