Topic may seem weird, but if you are as big a fan as me, I am sure this has had some kind of effect on you. Ever since being addicted to the show, and especially in the past few years, I have gotten a lot more into geography, reading atlases, locating cities/locations, etc... It may seem weird, as back in the day I didn't know what part of a state certain cities were in, and so on. I seem to know a lot more about the different areas of the country and do more research into the areas where the stories took place. I also have a desire, more so than w/ movies or fictional events, to visit the areas/sites of where a UM segment took place. Of course, I wouldn't tell too many people outside of this board that, ha!

The weird thing is that I was always into geography and I actually studied it and became a geographer but I never got into it in regards to UM. In fact I don't know where the majority of the cases happened up until the google earth new ones. I think it was mostly because I thought it was glossed over in the old UM at times. I also think it has to be because of it being generally in the US since international cases had more attention to me than american in regards to geography.
