I couldn't believe it. In "Archie's Grand opening," Carroll O'Connor sings, and he's good!

Archie has been lying to his boss that he's sick (shame, shame) and his boss fires Archie on the opening night of Archie's bar. He's lost his fall-back plan, his bartender, and his janitor, so what does Archie do? He starts singing "Side by Side," with Edith and he's good!

Johnny be good!

That's true.He really did.The late Carroll O'Connor sang on another episode later on towards the end of the series. He ALSO was on Sonny and Cher 's variety show, and on the show sang the closing theme to "All in the Family","Remembering You".And you're right. He was REALLY good.

Here's a CBS special with him, Danny Thomas and Mary Tyler Moore doing a musical number together. In my opinion MTM was the weakest link in the singing but she was the strongest in her dance steps. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwbaKq0nflw

MStewart, I checked the link. Not only were all three of them fantastic, but it's true: Carroll O'Connor was a great singer.

and I remember, on that episode of "THE SONNY & CHER COMEDY HOUR" in the 70s, they did a sketch that was a parody of "AITF" but as an opera and he sang in one scene. (and no, he didn't play Archie; someone else did. I remember he played the CBS censor)
