This two-parter, in which Archie traces Edith's signature on a $20,000 loan ("It isn't forgery; it's tracery") is definitely one of their better ones.
Of course, our man Archie gets away with it, and believe it or not, it's Michael who saves the day.

I remember watching those when they first aired. I took it for granted then, but later I realized how great Jean Stapleton was in her acting when her character discovered what had taken place.

Okay, I will probably get blasted for this, but I have to say that being that Archie was the one who worked outside of the home, I feel he had the right to expect Edith to support him with his venture. I think that is what a good wife does...and yes, I'm a woman! Gloria and Mike never should have been up in his business and I could have jumped through the TV when Gloria kept ridding Archie about seeing the papers.....IT WAS NONE OF HER BUSINESS! Mike and Gloria were always doing that! I know it was off to a slow start, but Archie finally made it happen and IMO, he worked hard for it and earned his dream so who was Edith or anyone else to take it from him? I know Archie was harsh with Edith at times, but he loved her deeply and took good care of her and we did see that in a few episodes so I think the least she could have done was trust in him to continue to take care of her. This was one episode that had me truly disappointed with Edith.
