Briefly: Here’s a new project from DreamWorks Animation that might offset the studio’s planned glut of sequels. Just announced is Peabody and Sherman, which will feature Robert Downey, Jr. providing the voice of the brilliant scientist and talking dog Mr. Peabody, originally introduced on The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show.

Jeffrey Ventimilia and Joshua Sternin (The Simpsons, Yogi Bear) wrote the script, which will see Peabody and Sherman using the WABAC machine to travel through time, the better to introduce Mr. Peabody’s ‘pet boy’ Sherman to history. (And likely to some terrible puns.) We don’t know what characters and/or historical figures will appear, but a telling of the starring characters’ origin story is reportedly part of the script. The film will be fully CGI, and 3D. An image of the film’s version of Mr. Peabody should be online within the next week.

They just can't leave a classic alone, they're going to **** this up as they did to Yogi Bear!

...worked better as a four minute segment on "ROCKY AND HIS FRIENDS" and "THE BULLWINKLE SHOW". A feature film would only dilute the charm (and wit) of the original....

And as 3D and CGI?It was a well-remembered cartoon,and should STAY a well-remembered cartoon.Remaking it as a feature film would be a ghastly mistake.
