Bob Newhart will be a guest-star on this week's CBS show, "N.C.I.S." (starring Mark Harmon). He is going to play a retired Medical Examiner, the one that preceded Ducky (Dr. Mallard, played by David McCullough of "Man from U.N.C.L.E." fame).

"N.C.I.S." is on Tuesday evenings - check your local CBS channel guide for details, but here in SoCal, it's on at 8 pm.

Evidently when Mark Harmon found out that Bob was going to guest star on the show, he immediately commented, "The writers better put a phone call into the script someplace for him" or words to that effect. Whether they did or not, remains to be seen.

It was a fantastic episode - but I notice that they've rerun other episodes from this season (8) but haven't run Bob's episode.

The directors, cast and crew of NCIS are throwing strong remarks at the Emmy folks, to get Bob a nomination. He definitely deserves it, especially for this performance!
