I was doing some digging and found an article from about 6 months ago saying they found the author of the horrible letters sent to Jay Cook and Tonya Van Cuylonborg's family. A mentally ill man from Canada not involved in the killings.

Apparently they do have dna from the envelopes they are going to test to confirm. The strange thing is I read an article on their case from just a few days ago saying they still didn't know who the letter writer was. Not sure if they just aren't aware of the information or the dna test hasn't came back or didn't match.

Wow, at least now that's ruled out as being connected. Those letters always did sound like the author was rather unbalanced. I remember something about "I am on a Michael Jackson victory tour" and all kinds of weird stuff.

Crystal, I am disappointed...this was all the rage last week! Maybe you were out of town :) Just giving you a hard time...

I think they are close none the less! Would love to see it solved...at least they got to the point they are right now with eliminating the letter writer after 20 some years.

Somehow I thought the letter writer had privy to personal possessions--driver's licenses and such he removed from the victims. Are they now saying he just got the parents' names out of the phone book? Also, were there details of the killings not released, and did the letter writer's details match the actual evidence?

They claimed that phone caller who tortured Amy Billig's mother for 22 years was uninvolved in her disappearance too, although evidence in Amy's journal indicates he could have been.
