Tatyana Ali has described the continued support that she receives from fans of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as "amazing".

The actress - who played Ashley Banks on the '90s sitcom - told PopEater that she is still recognised for the role even now, 15 years after the series went off the air.

"It's amazing. People recognise me wherever I am - I think it's because I look very similar to when I was younger," she explained.

"That could be a negative thing, but on the other hand, people treat me with so much love and affection because of the character and because they love her and loved the show. I really do believe that if I was destitute, if something happened and I was on the corner somewhere, I think someone would give me a sandwich."

She added: "It's the amount of love... it's really genuine, and it's really amazing."

Ali stars in the new TV One sitcom Love That Girl.

Let's just say, that Ashley is NOT my favorite character on this show. She was okay in the first few seasons, when she was a little girl, but I didn't like her at all, when she got older. She might have been less of a snob than Carlton and Hilary, so I have to give her credit for that, but she also became the most boring main character (except maybe Vivian II), and she could be such a bitch towards people, especially Carlton, and thought she was "all that". Okay, Carlton and Hilary might have had their not so nice moments as well, but they still were more interesting and likable characters, and they were both funny. I have nothing against the actress Tatiana Ali though, unless she's very much like her character on "Fresh Prince" turned out to be.
