Barbeau wanted to do less & less 'Maude' as she was working on her own sitcom as the lead called 'The Fighting Nightingales.' Not sure if CBS picked it up but the pilot supposedly aired on January 16th 1978. Barbeau played an army officer during the Korean Conflict.(Who knew that war could be so funny?!?) Anybody else knew this?

I didn't know it.

But, CBS DIDN'T pick up that series; good thing too. I remember seeing the pilot when they aired it (on a Monday night in 1976 at 9:30 right after "MASH" at 9:00) and it was AWFUL!!!

Me too. I remember seeing Gary Burghoff's W*A*L*T*E*R spinoff during the summer of 1984. At least you got to see some of these failed shows that way.

It was probably because of her MINOR role on Maude-lol
