The character of Bosley will reportedly be dramatically reinvented in a new version of Charlie's Angels.

It emerged in October that ABC has ordered a pilot of the remake, which is being produced by Smallville executives Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

TV Guide now reports that the character of John Bosley, first played in 1976 by then 46-year-old actor David Doyle, will be a dashing detective with "GQ looks" and a "Peter Pan" smile.

Producers are reportedly seeking an actor in his late-20s to mid-30s for the role. The new Bosley is also described as having "savvy hacking skills" and "a killer six-pack... under his designer suits".

Bill Murray previously played Bosley in the film adaptation of Charlie's Angels, while Bernie Mac took over the role for the 2003 sequel.

Filming for the new pilot is expected to begin in Miami sometime this month.

If they wanted to make a different show then why not give it a different name. That way you won't start out by insulting and possibly alienating a large portion of your potential audience.

Yeah, they can make this movie but it's not "Charlie's Angels". Things are what they are, and titles do matter. Abducting the "CA" title in order to sell tickets, while radically changing the content of that show, is trying to have things both ways. Typical Hollywood greed. And stupidity.

Guess I'll just go back to the DVDs.

"Bosley" might very well have been reimagined as a "robot", or "computer"...or a middle-aged female {Bette Midler? Marion Ross? Catherine O'Hara?}.
