I seem to like the episodes when Andy isn't born yet. Especially the episodes with the hippie intro song. I've been taping those recently. And Tina Yothers was so cute when she was little.

View Full Version : with or without Andy? Curtis3331 12-27-2001, 11:28 AM I seem to like the episodes when Andy isn't born yet. Especially the episodes with the hippie intro song. I've been taping those recently. And Tina Yothers was so cute when she was little. :) FamilyTiesFan 12-27-2001, 02:53 PM I like the episodes before Andy was born too. The 1st season episodes with the hippie intro are my favorite ones. Jennifer was really funny in the first season. TV Guy 12-27-2001, 07:57 PM I don't mind the episodes where Andy is a baby (season 4 is the strongest IMHO), but things started heading downhill when Brian Bonsall took over the role. His character is so precious that he would fit in better on "Full House". Paula 12-29-2001, 08:55 PM Well, I like the eps better before Andy came along too, but I don't mind Andy as a later addition to the show. Brian Bonsall was cute when he was younger. Hey Curtis- think about which is worse: The addition of "Sam" to Diff'rent Strokes or "Andy" to Family Ties? I'll take the latter choice anytime! Paula 12-29-2001, 09:00 PM That reminds me- in which season of Family Ties did Elyse find out she was pregnant? Andy was 6 years old when the show ended. Same thing with Chissy on Growing Pains-.....my those kids grew up quickly- LOL. Yeah, it's not that I hate Andy, it's just that I seem to like it without him there, the episodes seemed a lot funnier and better to me. But he was definately cute. -I think I'd rather take Andy on FT anytime! The addition of Sam in DS is definately without a doubt (imo) the worst! Alex P. Keaton Fan 12-31-2001, 11:11 PM I Think The Show Is Better With Andy. It Gave Alex Something To Do! LOL! Kristen 01-01-2002, 03:35 AM Originally posted by Alex P. Keaton Fan I Think The Show Is Better With Andy. It Gave Alex Something To Do! LOL! I gotta agree. Andy was adorable! :) (For a little kid I mean!) Besides, it was nice to see a nuturing side of Alex for once. Kristen MJFfan 01-03-2002, 12:31 AM I would be tempted to say without, but that might be because I just like the earlier episodes. Jennifer is better in those ones. I think that they make Andy get older more quickly then in real time. Apparently he went from a baby to a toddler in one season. He's definitly cute in a little kid way. ;) ftfan 01-04-2002, 06:12 PM I like it before and after. I think it is funny in the later shows when Andy seems to be turning into a "little Alex". BTW, someone asked, Elyse became pregnant in the third season. alf8mycat 01-23-2002, 05:30 AM yeah i think season 4 was really really good. i just saw the episode tonight where they take andy to stevens mothers house and steven remembers his father and they do a flashback to when he was a kid and they got a tv for the first time. that was a really great episode. GoldenFamilyTies 01-23-2002, 06:46 PM I like the episodes WITHOUT andy more. Some Andy ones are good though. :D Janice 01-24-2002, 01:07 AM I like the shows without Andy. I prefer adult situation comedies such as The Jeffersons, MTM, and Cheers, etc. Andy was a little doll, no doubt, but shows with small children just are not for me. Andy always had the obligatory cute line or two, but they were careful not to expand his role too much which was a wise decision I think. Manda 01-25-2002, 09:14 PM See, here's the thing: Although I do like Andy, I prefer the episodes before him because, in general, a baby/kid is added to the sitcom when the show has nowhere else to go and has run out of plot lines. Some examples are All In The Family, Different Strokes, Facts of Life, Brady Bunch, et cetera. The only show I can think of that added a kid long before it was getting stale was I Love Lucy, and the main reason the kid worked out was because everyone knew the Arnaz's really *were* having a baby, so there was a level of real emotion there that the audience loved. When Andy was added I was afraid it meant that the show was getting stale and the storylines would go downhill. HOWEVER, in this case, they *didn't* because it was right around this time that the writers realized that MJF was the main reason most of the viewers tuned in every week, so more and more of the plots started to revolve around him. So, to conclude this really long schpiel :), I love the episodes *before* Andy because they were fresh and knew and more about 60sparents meet 80skids (a plot which I adore), but I love the episodes *after* Andy because they were based MUCH more around Alex. There. I'm done. Peace, Manda Manda 01-25-2002, 09:16 PM *ahem*...Make that "knew" a "new". Peace, Manda |
