Buddy Sorrell's dog is named Larry. I got this information from The Official Dick Van Dyke Show Book by Vince Waldron.

that's right; Buddy mentioned his name in a season 1 episode. I forget the name, but it's the one where Buddy stays with the Petries while Pickles is away.

Good catch Tubehead Lassie was a famous dog, along with Rin Tin Tin, Chloe the hound from the 50's show People's Choice. As long as cartoons count, how about Snoopy, Scooby Doo and Underdog.
