In a May 1976 article, John Amos mentions his deep dissatisfaction with Good Times, citing the increased focus on the stereotypical J.J. character, and mentions that he just found out he would not be picked up for the 4th season. He speculated that his character would "probably be killed off, dying of hypertension".

Thanks, I used the Google archive from the other thread (1977- Esther Rolle leaving GT) and just searched the database for John Amos 1976. There were a number of small tidbit articles, some you had to pay for but free ones too.

Articles I would pay for
1. Explaining why John Amos was missing in the ep A Place to Die
2. Explaining why jimmy Walker was missing in Rent Party
3. Explaining why Ester Rolle was missing in The Enlistment
