View Full Version : Curse? What Curse? Shavar Ross (Dudley from Diff'rent Strokes) Has Turned Out A-OK!
Brian Damage 12-28-2010, 08:23 PM If the name Shavar Ross is unfamiliar to you—then perhaps the name "Dudley" won't be. Fans of hit 70's-80's sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes" will recall Arnold's ruddy-faced best friend. But this actor has never really left the Hollywood scene. He's starred in practically every popular show from the 1980s including: "Designing Women", "Magnum P.I.", "MacGyver", and even the "The Love Boat." But that isn't where the actor's work ends. The married father of two was once the pastor of a non-denominational Christian church. And he tops his list of talents with credits as a film director, production company owner, and screenwriter.

old grouch 12-29-2010, 03:03 PM Shavar almost looks like he did when he was playing Dudley, just a little older. I'm glad that he is doing something productive with his life.
Personally, I don't believe in so-called 'curses'. I think that people make bad choices and should take responsibility for their actions.

Also the three so called "cursed" cast members had problems at home so they probably would have had the same problems even if they were never on TV. It just wouldn't have been publicized in the media.

Actually, Shavar Ross DID suffer for a time, around the exact same time when himself and Gary were shooting the 2-part episode of "The Bike Shop Owner", dealing with pedophilia and child molestations.
Ross was the victim in real life of that, just as when he played the victim of it on the show. But he didn't let it get him down. he bounced back up and came out swinging. I had faith in him. :)

Danny Cooksey turned out just fine as well, with a very lucrative career in voiceovers. He is also married with kids (or maybe it's just one kid), but I saw him in an interview after Gary's passing and he seems like he has his head screwed on pretty tight.

Ross (left in photo below amongst the Friday the 13th cast members) also made one or more appearance on Amen as a teenage who didn't want to live a better life.

Shall we mention his singing career back in the early 90s ? :D
Larenz09 07-05-2011, 08:40 AM Hard working really makes a man too popular and fame in all over the world
dont matter from where he or she is
Ross has built a little empire for himself by creating his own movie production company. Much like Tyler Perry has done.
He's happily married with children and he's doing fine. He has the Lord to thank for all his success!! :)
