-Glenn Martin, DDS
Premiered Monday, August 17, 2009
Now airing Fridays at 10:30pm
Glenn Martin, DDS is the first television production to come out of Michael Eisner’s Tornante Animation Company. The original stop-motion animated series follows the life of Glenn Martin (Kevin Nealon), who yearns for a change of scenery and a deeper connection with his family. Determined to bring the family closer together, Glenn takes the Martins on a road trip to protest the destruction of a beloved childhood park. As things unravel right from the get-go, the family is forced to make the dental-mobile – replete with a giant decorative toothbrush on the roof – their new home. Glenn, Jackie (Catherine O’Hara) and Courtney (Jackie Clarke) – an 11-year-old future corporate maven who brings along her personal assistant, Wendy (Judy Greer), a 14-year-old North Korean exile – and son, Conor (Peter Oldring), the 13-year-old hormone-addled tween who’s not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed--quickly learn when hitting the road that the road can sometimes hit back in unexpected ways. The Martins are accompanied on their journey by the family dog, Canine, who’s pronounced buttocks only add to the hilarity.

I'd make these changes, would expand to the 7PM hour and have the same schedule 7 days a week. Home Improvement and Family Matters deserve better slots than what they have now.

An odd thing, I saw I Dream of Jeannie listed on my guide at 12:30 for Nick at Nite. It was just an error though, the Nanny was on.

I know we all complain about this network, but this is just absurd now. With the exception of Family Matters (which is on at 5:00am), every single one of these shows are on other networks. Good ratings or not, there's absolutely nothing special about Nick at Nite anymore. NOTHING. These shows have been beaten to the ground, and they aren't even great "modern" classics. Is Friends the only show coming to the network this year?

George Lopez is not on any other cable network.

It's been beaten to the ground for about 3 years now, on Nick at Nite. Is it still on local stations? It's only a matter of time before it pops up on ABC Family or TBS. Is Friends the only show coming this year?

Yeah I do have it on my local station. One thing about N@N when they find a hit they hold on to it for years-lol

The same two or three shows get very, very annoying after a while. Especially when those shows only have 5 or 6 seasons worth of episodes.

Yup they did the same with Fresh Prince. But are we being hypocrites? Because we know that if one of our favorites shows was played constantly it would not bother us one bit-lol

It wouldn't bother me AS much, but that doesn't make it right. I love All In The Family. Do I think it should be on 3 different cable channels, in addition to locals? NO.

Friends comes in Fall 2011. So, as crazy as that is - this coming September! I remember hearing the announcement here so many years ago.

My guess is Nanny remains solely on TV Land once Friends comes and we see Friends take over the 11pm slot currently held by the Nanny.

I doubt it will only be on at 11pm. Friends is going to be Nick at Nite's new Roseanne. It's going to take over that network.

I'm not so sure. It's not as if George Lopez - their biggest hit right now - is taking over. I think they're over that phase of running a show into the ground. They don't do anything now like they did before - first with The Cosby Show and then with the Fresh Prince. It's a very balanced schedule now, as much as complain of its lack of "classic" sitcoms.

Look, they're still going to have MW&K from 8-9, EHC from 9-10, GL isn't going anywhere, and Friends is a nice fit at 11. It's not going to lead out of Nickelodeon hours and won't move GL out of its spot so I think that thinking about it as if it were coming to N@N today, that would be their course of action. Obviously, that could change depending on if EHC leaves or something like that. Just my educated guess at what they would be likely to do.

I thought Friends was going straight to TV Land instead of NAN as originally planned.

Friends was acquired back before Nickelodeon took control of NAN and turned it in to a "family" network. It would fit much better on TV Land.
