FOX's new show "Million Dolllar Money Drop"?And if so,what did you think of it?

....and, while the show is entertaining, it needs a little "work": while the idea of giving each couple a million dollars at the start, then seeing if they can hold onto most- if not all- of it by the time they finish answering seven questions is a good one, I feel there's one "element" that should be added to the game...perhaps along the lines of, "If you have any money left, and answer the final question corrrectly, we'll double your winnings"...or something like that. It also needs more "intelligent" wives- my god, I never so many women act like "little girls" and get so excited, and end up kissing their husbands after every question! I certainly got into the spirit of the game, and knew most of the answers (and it killed me that most of those couples put so much money on two or three different answers at a time when I knew what the correct one was!). It certainly is telling when only two of the first six couples were able to walk away with some of what they mananged to hold onto [one walked away with $80,000; the other, $240,000]. Since the show is coming back in January, we'll see what happens then...

And,the show stirred up a bit of controversy,because the last couple who lost $80,000 for giving the wrong answer.But wait....The answer they gave was right all along,not wrong,as the show said.Obviously,the producers did NOT do thorough research,(and this is 100% true),because it was the VIEWERS of the show who caught the mistake,sent messages to FOX network,who apologized,and offered the couple the chance to go on the show again.Source:ABC's World News Tonight Sunday and this morning,the couple was on ABC's "Good Morning America",and said they don't know if they'll go on the show again.Any comments?

My mistake.The couple did NOT lose $80,000 like I said.They lost $800,000.Well,anyway,at least FOX,after first denying any wrongdoing ,apologized to the couple,said in a statement,it was THEIR mistake.However,they did NOT give the couple the $800,000.They only offered to have the couple back on the show.I think they should have given the couple the money.As I said,any comments?

The couple "bet" $800,000 on the Post-It answer, and $80,000 on "Sony Walkman". Supposedly, the correct answer was the "Walkman", and the $800,000 literally disappered. However, as several viewers have correctly pointed out [and the show's research staff obviously didn't], 3M oriignally test-marketed "Post-It" as "Press 'N' Peel" in 1977, officially introducing the product nationally in the spring of 1980...after Sony's "Walkman" was introduced the year before.

If I were Endemol (the producer) and Fox, I'd give that couple the money they earned, lest the show suffer from bad publicity.

And if Endemol and Fox don't do the right thing and give this couple the money they rightfully won why would any other couple want to be contestants on this show?

With this controversy happening,one of two things will happen:1)The researchers on the show when it returns in January,will THOROUGHLY do their research,because this last time obviously they did NOT do their homework,(the show DOES need work)and the show will have big winners(or losers),no more mistakes,and huge ratings or 2)It will end up being cancelled by FOX,and live on in daytime syndication,like "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader" and "Don't Forget the Lyrics" ,both actual one-time FOX shows.

You don't? I didn't expect you to- that was a game show Fox had planned to premiere last January, concerning super-intelligent kids matching wits with adults for "big money". Before its scheduled appearance after "AMERICAN IDOL", however, reports surfaced that the game had been rigged; some of the kids were supposedly given answers in advance. Fox postponed the premiere, then quietly dropped plans to schedule the show altogether. It never aired on the network.

I mention this because, if a similar potential scandal affects "MILLION DOLLAR MONEY DROP" (i.e. the disgruntled contestants who lost $800,000 because of a slight factual error), there won't be a "syndicated" version of the show in the near future, 'rrezny'.

I just started a thread about this show. I didn't pay attention to this one because the name of the show isn't in the heading. Oh well. Did anyone see the show on Thursday 1/13? They got more questions in, but the result was the same for both couples. Did anyone see the show where the couple lost all their money on the first question?
