I think this was from season 5, possibly 6, but there was an episode of "The Lucy Show" where Lucy and Carol Burnett were flight attendants. That was simply the most hysterical post-Vivian Vance episode of "The Lucy Show". I can't wait for that to come out on DVD and I hope CBS asks Carol Burnett to do an interview or audio commentary for that episode.

There was a part where Carol lets out a scream as they are about to take off. The scream, and Lucy's reaction, were priceless....:lol:

Season 6--it was a two parter. Carol and Lucy always made a good team when doing the sitcoms.

Those shows were classic and just as good as anything Lucy did before. Lucy Gets a Roommate, and Here's Lucy Lucy and Carol Burnett (Secretary Beautiful) were also classic shows and Lucy and Carol always had great chemistry together. I wished they worked more together. This should have been the season 6 finale because Lucy would finally get out of the office and change careers. I think Lucy and the Boss of the Year was funny how it ended with Lucy's plan backfiring; she's stuck with Mr. Mooney. That was a classic finale.

I haven't seen that (Carol) episode in years. I'd like to see it also. I hope seasons 5 & 6 get dvd releases! This is a 2-part episode, which is not part of the "public domain" releases.

This episode had its moments, but should have been (and could have been) much better had Lucy had the right writers. The script is completely lacking in logic, something Bob and Madelyn were always careful and deliberate about weaving into their plots. But this winds up playing more like a variety show skit because continuity and logic are thrown right out the window. First of all, the mere fact Lucy is suddenly attending flight attendant school, and Mooney all of a sudden is so flexible and supportive that he seems okay with her returning to work for him if it doesn't work out. (Could this possibly be the same Mr. Mooney???) Of course she graduates, yet mysteriously winds up back at the office the next week. Second, that has to have been the quickest an airplane has ever taken off in the entire history of aviation. It's literally about 10 seconds from the time the plane starts moving until it's in the air. One would think they were in a rocket, not an airplane! Third, was that a super-duper supersonic jet (or rocket) they were on? They manage to get from Los Angeles to Chicago in the space of less than 15 minutes. Watch for this. There are no time transitions or fades at all to suggest they had been flying for several hours. We literally witness their entire flight, right in front of our eyes, in the space of under 15 minutes. And finally, the very idea that Lucy and Carol, who barely know one another, at the drop of a hat are prepared to sing in harmony a medley of songs is beyond absurd. And then all the passengers singing right along with them. And doesn't either Carol or Lucy announce at the end during all this singing that they had landed in Chicago "fifteen minutes ago"? Which would mean they had landed in Chicago before they even took off from Los Angeles.

Did you know that Lucy and Carol had a deal where they exchanged appearances on each other's shows? Every time Carol appeared on The Lucy Show or Here's Lucy, Lucy would reciprocate with an appearance on the Carol Burnett Show.

^It was common practice for Lucy to do that with any big guest star who also had a show--no one was paid in money, but instead swapped appearances on each other's shows.

Well, I would put that episode up against any crapola on TV today and say it is ten times funnier. As for examples of bad writing, you can find that on 95% of the sitcoms produced today.

Back then, a woman Lucy's age would probably not be working as a stewardess. The airlines would only hire women who were young and single. They even had to meet certain height and weight requirements. None the less, it's still a funny episode with two comedy legends working together.

I thought I remembered part 1 was with Lucy and Carol in the training class; and part 2 was them in flight doing the job. In actuality part 2 was all about a musical stage show. I would have rather seen the ladies doing their comedy. Their singing routine on the plane was enough for me.

Also strange, Lucy graduated from stewardess school, and yet in the next episode Lucy is back at her job as Mr. Mooney's secretary. :confused:

I enjoyed watching Kasey Rogers as the instructor in these episodes (best known as the 2nd "Louise Tate" on Bewitched.) And seen in her natural red hair!

As long as the subject of stewardesses and Lucy came up, I wanted to mention I like the fact that Pat Priest (The Munsters) played the flight attendant in the "Lucy Flies to London" episode (if I have the title right). Lucy was hilarious in that.
