View Full Version : As an adult, did you tell your parents things you did wrong as a teen?
Janice 12-22-2010, 11:47 PM When my two sisters and I became adults, we told our mother a few things we did as teens that we weren't supposed to do. For instance, I told my mother that I hooked school for three days in a row when my parents were out of town.
Another time, I "borrowed" my mother's car at about midnight, picked up two friends and took a long drive to New Hampshire. We didn't do anything wrong; just went for breakfast and goofed around. I had my license. I dropped my friends off, and was in bed by 8am, with nobody in the house even awake.
My sisters told our parents a few stories. We didn't tell them anything that would flip them out, just normal teen stuff.
Marvo301 12-22-2010, 11:51 PM I didn't have to. They already knew everything.

ditto
Brian Damage 12-23-2010, 02:29 PM I did tell them things, but not everything. I told them about my past drug abuse as a teen. My parents knew about it though.
MickeyMac 12-23-2010, 08:27 PM There are things I did wrong that my mother dosent know about, and I have no intentions of telling her.
catlover79 12-24-2010, 01:13 PM Some, but not all.
Retro4Life 12-24-2010, 01:21 PM I think my folks pretty much knew everything I did. I was a homebody anyway, and when I did do things socially, they knew who I was with and trusted/liked them.
Janice 12-24-2010, 03:28 PM I was always a good kid, got good grades, etc; so my mother was surprised when I told her about occasionally hooking school or "borrowing" her car in the middle of the night. Still, I guess she knew that not many kids are perfect and most break a few rules here and there to have fun.

I was just the opposite, when I was a teen, I did poorly in school. As a matter of fact, I went to 4 different high schools in 4 years. I had two suspensions from two different schools inthe same year. With that said, I was kicked out of my parents house. The military was a way out to save me. So when I graduated high school (thankfully) I immediately enrolled in the Navy. Best move for me. :)
Yooch 12-24-2010, 10:18 PM I told some, not all. The passage of time has a way of mitigating the impact of those actions somehow, even to the point of being able to laugh at some of them now. But if my parents knew those happenings when they occurred, well to paraphrase Col. Jessup in A Few Good Men, they wouldn't have been able to handle the truth, and I might not have survived to being able to tell you about it in this post!

Did you tell her about making out with that dude in the church parking lot? ;)
Nighthawk76 12-25-2010, 01:38 PM I never did anything seriously wrong besides for underage drinking. However, my dad did the same thing as a kid and I'm pretty sure he knew I was drinking long before 21. I never skipped school though or did drugs.
no i never shared any thing with my parents as i am very reserved kind of a person a usually dont share my stuff or feelings with any one.....so i didn't share my thoughts with my parents tooo
Dude111 12-27-2017, 04:29 AM There are things I did wrong that my mother dosent know about, and I have no intentions of telling her.Ya we all feel bad about stuff we did,we dont want anyone knowing! (Some stuff i did they dont know of and I dont wanna tell em!! (Especially my mum))
I never left home as a teen. I didn’t really do anything that I would have had to hide from them in the first place.
Penny Lane 12-27-2017, 12:52 PM No, I never told them. My Mom was quite "square" and my dad very strict in some ways which was a good thing because they saved me from getting into any serious trouble. My dad was cool. He liked The Beatles and understood my passion.:)
