The three-week test run of Debmar-Mercury and Fox's "Fran Drescher" ended last week, with an average 0.6 rating and 2 share in metered markets, representing a 25% drop from its time period and lead-in a year earlier, reports B&C.

The article adds, "In New York, the show averaged a 0.5 rating/2 share, down 29% from last year's year ago time period average. "Fran Drescher" is not expected to be picked up to go to series."

The story also says that across syndicated shows, the holiday season is taking its toll as programs had flat ratings for the week ended Dec. 12.

"Oprah" was tied at a 4.5 live plus same day household rating with "Judge Judy," with "Oprah"'s ratings holding steady while the courtroom show's ratings dropped 2%, the story notes. "Dr. Phil" and "Live with Regis and Kelly" tied for second place at a 2.7, with "Phil" keeping level with households and "Live" adding 4% to reach a new season high, the article notes.

now if viewership can go down on N@N and TV Land for the Nanny life would be good again

...is indeed soft these days, and not everyone can successfully manuver themselves into a talk show that viewers will make a daily "appointment" to see. Unfortunately for Fran, her projected series, which was supposed to last only a few weeks, could not "cut it" in the ratings. Apparently, Debmar-Mercury and 20th Television thought "lightning would strike twice" with Drescher's series, as it did for Wendy Williams [and it didn't for Craig Kilborn with his limited-run daily half-hour series last summer]. Besides, Wendy has a "bond" with her viewers that Fran doesn't. It's as simple as that.

Not to be rude, but if you don't like it, don't watch it, it's that simple. It's not like anyone's forcing you to watch it

...and I used to be one of her biggest fans. I have watched every episode
of the Nanny at least 3 times. Most celebrities simply don't know when to
throw in the towel and call it quits.
