I say this despite the fact it lasted 11 great seasons and winners of countless awards.
But, if you remember, Frasier Crane on Cheers was an only child, who's father (a Scientist) passed away. Considering that, the writers did a phenomonal job of tying every loose end and perfectly tying both sitcoms together without as much as a blink of an eye. Do you agree? Disagree?
Kristen 12-20-2010, 01:29 AM They explained away the whole "dead father" thing in the ep. where Sam visited Seattle. Frasier claimed he'd told everyone Martin died b/c they'd had a fight. But yes, I do agree that Frasier is one of the best spinoffs ever. :)
zypherix 12-20-2010, 08:53 AM Frasier and the Simpsons are the ones that stand out the most :)
cocytus 12-20-2010, 09:02 AM I don't know about the "best" but it and The Simpson's are certainly the most profitable.
Schmoopie 01-23-2011, 07:07 AM I'm just now getting into this show but I really like it. Hilarious and nothing offensive at all. Plus it takes place in Seattle! How cool is that?
catlover79 01-23-2011, 08:31 PM One of the greatest spinoffs ever, and one of the longest lasting! I think the only spinoff that ran longer was Knots Landing, which of course spun off from (and lasted a season longer than) Dallas!!

I didn't realize that Frasier had been on the air for 11 seasons! That's amazing! That's just as long as Cheers!

yea, 11 seasons! But, once Niles & Daphne got together it really "jumped the shark".

I haven't seen every season (gonna start watching Season One pretty soon!), but I loved it when they got together. When you say "jumped the shark", I'm assuming you mean that it ruined the show somewhat, but I think they are an adorable couple. However, I'd have to watch the whole series to give a better opinion.

Yup!! Cheers aired from 1982-93, and Frasier ran from 1993-04. So Kelsey Grammer played Dr. Frasier Crane for 20 straight years!! :D

That's right! I keep reading stuff online from people wanting Frasier to return and I'm sure that after playing the same character for so many years, Kelsey Grammer is ready for a change! I know I would be!

So would I - kind of a mixed blessing, because Kelsey has been basically typecast after playing Frasier for so long.
Schmoopie 02-08-2011, 03:53 AM I just watched "The Good Son" (the pilot episode) for the first time on Saturday and it was very well done. One of the best pilot episodes I've ever seen. They did an excellent job introducing everyone and the way they explained the transition from Boston to Seattle was wonderful. I loved when Frasier was explaining how it happened and then he says "GO Seahawks!" Too funny!

Exactly. Though Frasier wasn't in the first couple of seasons of Cheers, he was in the series off & on for most of the show. His first episode was the Cheers S03 premiere in Fall 1984, and was featured in the series more as time went on.
