Techincally "The Alvin Show" was the first musical cartoon based on a "real group", though first created as puppets in the 50's, their look was changed to look cuter for their 1960 cartoon show which featured all their hits...I know not based on real people, but you did mention the archies, and don't forget about "The Banana Splits"...but yes The Beatles were the first "real humans" to get a cartoon series.
