Wanted NOTHING to do with the series.I have heard that the late Walter Brennan originally wanted nothing to do with ABC/CBS' "The Real McCoys".Know of any other stars who originally wanted no part of the series that made them famous?

I think Doris Day did not want be in the Doris Day show, however her then husband had signed her to a contract without her knowledge.I'm not to sure about all the facts though.BTW, I never saw her tv show but I'd love to check it out.

That's true. Walter Brennan claimed he couldn't do comedy (despite the fact
that one of his earliest film appearances was as the train conductor in the
first Three Stooges short, "Woman Haters").

I think I read or heard somewhere, that when Buddy Ebsen was first offered the lead in "THE BEVERLY HILLBILIES" he didn't want it because he had already played "mountain men" so many times. (like Georgey Russell in Walt Disneys "DAVEY CROCKETT")
