I have read several pages of threads on this boards and I always found Mastermind's comments intelligent and insightful.
I really wish he would post again.

View Full Version : Anyone else miss Mastermind? JackKerouac1989 12-15-2010, 09:52 PM I have read several pages of threads on this boards and I always found Mastermind's comments intelligent and insightful. I really wish he would post again. TracyLynnS 12-15-2010, 10:49 PM Yep. I don't know what happened to him. He mentioned he was taking a break from here for a while and was going to spend some time at the Zodiac Killer boards. He later came back, saying that there wasn't much activity over there. I haven't seen a post from here in a while. Does anyone email with him or know him better than just those of us who interact with him on the boards? I'm hoping he's just taking a temporary hiatus and there's nothing serious going on. dks64 12-16-2010, 12:40 AM I do! I'm a noob, but I always like Masterminds posts in the old threads. wiseguy182 12-16-2010, 02:04 AM I will avoid answering that question, but I'll just simply state that I think the odds of him coming back at some point are good. Everyone has stuff going on in their lives, so it is pretty common for people around here to take a break at some point, and return later. My job has gotten alot busier in recent months, and I've been doing a good bit of trading lately, so I haven't had the time to get on here like I used to. I've noticed that some people who have been gone here for several years, have come back. Smokescreen 12-16-2010, 08:15 AM (raises hand) I just hope he's keeping well and maybe he'll return at some point -I've always liked his posts and insight Hambone2421 12-16-2010, 10:13 AM I do. He had said at one point that he was concentrating on the Zodiac case but then he came back and then re-disappeared. I just hope he's ok. burbqueen 12-17-2010, 02:40 PM He is the reason I stop lurking and joined. so yes i miss him... Corky Kneivel 12-17-2010, 08:04 PM ...I always found Mastermind's comments intelligent and insightful. Those are so not the words I would use. Hellz yes I miss the guy. As much as I disagreed with him, time and time and time again, he was definitely committed to the board and made it fun to check back in posts I had looked at a dozen times before. Even when I was totally frustrated with what he said I appreciated the fact that he took the time to say it. It has been my experience that even the best of message boards can die off without dedicated posters. But he's not really gone though right? TheCars1986 12-17-2010, 08:23 PM Do I smell another mystery brewing? Perhaps he's here using an alias? ;) I miss any one of the regular posters who stop posting after awhile. Mastermind seemed to always have an opinion on every case, and I find that admirable alone. mozartpc27 12-21-2010, 06:12 PM http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?p=4458929#post4458929 MegtheEgg86 12-24-2010, 02:10 PM http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?p=4458929#post4458929 That is easily one of my favorite threads of all time. I miss Mastermind as well. His posts were difficult for me to follow sometimes, but I could appreciate that in a sense. He had a focus on minutiae that was consistently interesting and fresh. Rabbitman 12-24-2010, 02:54 PM Mastermind is THE reason i got into mysteries. I would not be the investigator I am without him. He is my mentor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Old School TV 12-26-2010, 12:59 PM Like any poster they come, go, come back, or never come back. During the time i posted i remember names like Greatgarret, Spaceinvaders, Beetlejuice, Thiusiat, Lookslikericci, Dynoguy, Awsidooger, Treeman, Kadmass, Siberiankiss, Joshpiano, ToddMueller etc. It is important to note that a message forum thrives by having different discourse of ideas and opinions. A poster if Mastermind even if you disagree with them helps the exchange of idea. If all opinions are consolidated without much variation it makes things mundane. That is atleast what i like to promote on my own site for the last two years. MissFit29 12-29-2010, 09:12 PM He never missed a single angle of a story to examine - even when he was blowing my scatterbrained theories out of the water, I appreciated his comments. I'm surprised he hasn't made an appearance in months, but I thought he mentioned at one point that he had some health issues that kept him from sitting at a computer for extended periods of time. VikingsGal 01-03-2011, 12:01 AM Not that I am a super regular poster but I can try to post a little more. It does get a little confusing (and this my issue, not the board) when there are multiple threads for a certain topic. Any way to combine some? Don't want the thread to die out - I was SO obsessed with UM in college. I arranged any evening classes I had to take around this show. Allierain 01-04-2011, 12:13 AM Like any poster they come, go, come back, or never come back. During the time i posted i remember names like Greatgarret, Spaceinvaders, Beetlejuice, Thiusiat, Lookslikericci, Dynoguy, Awsidooger, Treeman, Kadmass, Siberiankiss, Joshpiano, ToddMueller etc.. When I first joined this forum in 2002, it was a great place. Unfortunately it's not anymore, which is why I hardly post these days. Pretty much all the original posters I liked (with a few exceptions) are gone, and people spend more time here b1tching at each other than anything else. You can't even post a theory about a case without someone being rude in their response. It's just not pleasant to be here anymore. cocytus 01-04-2011, 12:32 AM I guess it's easier for some to complain about the quality of others postings rather than try to improve their own. Having said that, Masterminds postings were fairly well-researched and showed a belief that there are many different reasons that the events portrayed on UM could have occurred. |
