I was looking up "Happy Days" on IMDB and saw that it had a rating of 7.7. My Niece has "That '70s Show" listed in her favorite TV shows on Facebook so I looked that up too. I was surprised to see that show had an 8.5 rating.

So here is a poll. Vote for the one you prefer.

Never cared much for either although That 70s Show was a little funnier and more grounded in realality.

That 70's Show was also more accurate in the clothing, music they liked, attitudes, etc. than Happy Days. However, Happy Days was better in the earlier seasons than the later ones. By 1979, the costume department must've gotten lazy because the cast was wearing stuff that by no means, were worn in the late 1950's and early 1960's.

And plus in the late 90s the 70s look was in so you figured the cast didn't bitch as much as the HD cast did.

I agree the earlier seasons of Happy days were its best.Specifically the first three seasons. And it did look rediculous in the later seasons having the main characters wearing sporting late 70s,early80s hairstyles and clothing.Anyhow,to answer the original question,it still is no contest-- Happy Days.

As far as ratings on IMDB,I find in a number of cases specifically when it comes to the older tv shows-the ratings are often lower than they should be,while the newer tv shows are often much higher than they should be.---It's also often true with movies.Alot of the more modern movies in their top 250 list have no business being there.

Yes, it must be that. Newer shows have an advantage, I suppose. It would be interesting to see what the rating for "That '70s Show" is in 20 years.

I agree... no contest: Happy Days is my choice.

I like TV shows which had a "gimmick" or "secret weapon," something that made it different. Happy Days had the hugely popular Fonz who was fun to watch (until he was overexposed).

Happy Days also had very good writers (in its first 4-5 seasons, anyway) and acting. Ron Howard already had much TV experience and then there were the very experienced Tom Bosley and Marion Ross.

I remember when I first realized they were going too far with that. It was a scene in one episode when someone mentioned that they had seen the movie "PHSYCO" which came out in 1962!!

I like them both. Do I have to choose?

Happy Days doesn't really exist for me after Ron Howard left.

And That '70s Show went downhill after season 5 (not to mention the last season without Topher Grace).
