Jimmy Kimmel has signed a new two-year extension with ABC to continue as the host/executive producer of the network's late-night show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which will continue to air at 12:05 AM for the time being. The new deal will take the show into its 10th season. Kimmel's current pact was up next month. During this past November sweep, Jimmy Kimmel Live posted year-to-year increases in both total viewers and adults 18-49, growing its audience for the 4th time in the past 5 years. In total viewers Kimmel (1.86 million) outdelivered Jimmy Fallon (1.79 million) or CBS’ Craig Ferguson (1.79 million). The best news about the renewal - Kimmel can continue to be a fixture at ABC's May upfront presentation in New York.

...and cancelled Jimmy once and for all. His "success" is merely an illusion, right down to the laugh track heard during his monologue and taped comedy bits. Do you still find Guillermo, Uncle Frank and Yehya funny? I don't...and I didn't particularly care for his stupid "National Un-Friend Day" stunt against Facebook in November. The ONLY reason Kimmel is still on the air is because he's attracting the right demographics...and advertisers love him, because he's delivering the audiences that buy their beer, computer games, theatrical movies, et. al. If it weren't for his sponsors [and he's the ONLY late-night host who does an "integrated" comedy commercial for one of his many sponsors at the start of the show], he wouldn't be on at all. Quite frankly, whatever Jimmy had going for him during the first few years of his show just isn't there anymore. And if ABC has to depend on him to "pump up" their ratings at Academy Award and NBA basketball playoff time [and appear on their syndicated "LIVE WITH REGIS AND KELLY"], they're in worse shape than I thought.

I realize most of you will disagree with my opinion, but that's how I feel.
