...the series' production budget: host/director John Newland and producer Collier Young were trying to save money, and got an offer to film most of season three at MGM's Borehamwood facilities in England. Newland later claimed that because of the influx of primarily British talent appearing in front of the camera, most viewers tuned away from the show- and ratings dipped to the point that the sponsor, Alcoa {Aluminum Company of America}, decided to cancel the series at the end of the 1960-'61 season and replace it with a more traditional anthology series filmed in Hollywood, "ALCOA PREMIERE" [aka "FRED ASTAIRE'S PREMIERE THEATER"].
