View Full Version : How come THESE TV Shows of the 1950's and 1960's Rezny@gmail.com 12-09-2010, 01:57 PM NEVER did a Christmas-themed episode? The shows I am talking about are "Leave it to Beaver","F Troop","Get Smart",and "My Three Sons".Or did they? Marvo301 12-09-2010, 03:56 PM I can't speak for these shows specifically but I know that the producers of some TV shows choose not to do seasonal episodes because they're thinking ahead to when the show is rerun in syndication. In that case the episodes could run at any time of year. So if they had a seasonal episode it could end up running in April or July or September. In order to avoid this and to maximize the value of the show in syndication they avoid seasonal episodes. Jude The Obscure 12-10-2010, 02:31 PM Said producers couldn't envision a station actually withholding the seasonal episodes til the season...:D biffbronson 12-21-2010, 11:09 PM Did Family Affair ever have a Christmas episode? That was another Don Fedderson production like My Three Sons. cocytus 12-21-2010, 11:36 PM NEVER did a Christmas-themed episode? The shows I am talking about are "Leave it to Beaver","F Troop","Get Smart",and "My Three Sons".Or did they? Not exactly of teh reason (if any) but: 1) F Troop only lasted 2 years/65 episodes and was set in the Old West before Xmas celebrations became common in the US. 2) Leave it to Beaver had a Xmas-themed episode called the "The Haircut" in its first season. 3) Can't find any information about My Three Sons. 4) Get Smart! was supposed to be spy spoof so maybe Xmas wasn't "top of mind." I do remember an episode that showed Maxwell Smart's apartment and there was a Xmas tree. Not sure of the name of the episode. treky 12-21-2010, 11:48 PM Did Family Affair ever have a Christmas episode? That was another Don Fedderson production like My Three Sons. I think they did an episode once where they had a Christmas party in July or something for a girl who was dyeing and wouldn't be alive to see Christmas. Marvo301 12-22-2010, 12:41 AM I think they did an episode once where they had a Christmas party in July or something for a girl who was dyeing and wouldn't be alive to see Christmas. And the dying girl was played by Eve Plumb who would go on to play the role of Jan on The Brady Bunch. The episode was called "Christmas Came A Little Early" and it aired in 1968. biffbronson 12-24-2010, 04:28 PM Thanks for the info. And Family Affair had a much shorter run than My Three Sons...! Interesting that Eve appeared in that, as Maureeen McCormick had appeared on Sons as a classmate of Ernie Douglas. gidgetgrape 12-24-2010, 04:36 PM 3) Can't find any information about My Three Sons. There weren't any Christmas episodes of My Three Sons. |
