Six years ago, former Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell was murdered onstage
while performing with his new band, DamagePlan, at a club in Columbus, Ohio.
The assailant, a psychotic ex-Marine, managed to gun down several others at the club before being mercifully gunned down himself by a policeman in the crowd.

Due to this horrific incident, concert security at clubs and elsewhere has gone up considerably.

Dime was known to play some very intense music, but he was a very kind-hearted person who loved to have a laugh. He has been missed incredibly by everyone in the music community, and has been remembered for his amazing talent, as well as his commitment to designing quality instruments and musical equipment at the time of his passing. He was only 38.

Rock in peace, Dime. :guitar: :guitar:

My thoughts are with his family, and anyone who witnessed this horrifying event.

It was ironic six years ago that this happened on the anniversary of John Lennon's death. I was listening to the radio, and heard "Walk" by Pantera, and thought, "Cool!" Then they reported the shooting that left Dime dead, and I was horrified--I couldn't believe it. The nicest guy in the world, it was completely unthinkable. I told myself, one day, I'm gonna get really good on guitar and eventually hang with Dime and have a beer with him. It was to never happen. At least not in this life. He's up there hanging with Cliff Burton and Randy Rhoads and all the others who made it to the Great Gig in the Sky.
