Actor Johnny Depp, whose early career got a boost from his role on the late-1980s TV show “21 Jump Street,” told MTV.com that he wants to do a cameo in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the show.

Depp, who's doing a press tour to promote his new film "The Tourist," said he heard some time ago that a cameo was in the works, but he has become concerned because he has yet to be contacted by the film’s producers.

Depp told MTV that he went to Jonah Hill, who's starring in the picture, to use his influence on Depp's behalf. "I've said I'm into it, but no one's actually approached me,” Depp said. “I'm in. I think it'd be pretty easy."

This is a no brainer.

Depp's name alone - even for a cameo - would sell tickets.

Not to mention he's one of our best actors, is into it, and would probably do it on the cheap.

I'm sure he will be in it.

Johnny Depp did do the 21JS movie cameo in order to kill off his Tom Hansen character. Depp hated that character. Hansen dieds in the 21 JS movie.

Peter DeLuise did the same to kill off his Doug Penhall character who died in the movie as well.
