I posed this question on the Welcome Back Kotter board and now here. I am curious what would you add or change if anything to this sitcom?

For me, I would have added a permanent female lead.

Let's see:

1) Kept Gregory Sierra
2) Added a long-term female police officer lead
3) Kept Barbara Barrie in the cast
4) Hired better writers for the later seasons.
5) Ended the series a season earlier.

Kept this guy the entire run: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:

*More episodes should have taken place outside of the precinct/office.

Less Lugar, and an ep abt Dietrich going on Jeopardy

No Dorsey, or Batista.
Give the Chano character a chance to expand more.
Less repeat performances by the same actors as different characters.
More of the character played by Diana Canova.
Much, much less Scanlon.

I wish he would've come back (even just for a guest spot) after AES Hudson Street and then Soap ceased production. It would've been fun to learn what Chano would've been up to after he'd left the 12th.

:eyes: It would of even been better if Chano had returned to the 12th precint taking over after Nick had died :eyes: :eyes: :lol: I missed hearing all those Spanish words whenever his character would get excited or upset :lol: :eyes:
