Was he considered a heartthrob back in the day? Also, does anybody know if Max Gail wore a hair piece on the show?

I believe he was considered "ruggedly handsome" back in the day. He did wear a hairpiece most of the show's run (except the 1st season, where his hair was visibly thinning). The tribute to Jack Soo retrospective allowed us to see him without the toupee, where he went with his "natural look". I think he only wore the piece because of the character.

Very true. There were pictures of him in public in celebrity magazines and he never wore the toupee in public.

Yes to both questions. Being a "heartthrob" is probably why he was paired off with Wentworth. But to me, the real heartthrob of the show was Gregory Sierra. :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:

I knew you were going to say that!! ;) Steve Landesberg looks pretty much the same as he did back then, just older.

I never thought Wojo as being that sexy! He was too much of an airhead for my taste; but, then again, I was in love with Harris, who was far, from being perfect, too.

To be honest, I though Barney Miller was the most distinguished looking member of the cast.

Yeah, I never thought of Wojo as sexy myself. But then again, like you said, you were in love with Harris, Sara with Dietrich and me with Chano - so we were all distracted!!!! :faint: :D You're also right that Hal Linden was the most distinguished looking, but then again, he was the boss. He was entirely believeable heading a police squad.

Oh great, so who does that leave me?
Fish?

And I was just getting over him...

I never thought any of guys at 1-2 were cute nor did I have a crush on any of them. However I do think Wojo was meant to be somewhat of a heart throb. My understanding is that he was the youngest of the detectives and he was a bachelor so if anyone in the squad was going to be a heartthrob it's Wojo.

I think the reason why I was attracted to Harris; because, he was always a sharp dresser. I am a sucker, when it comes to someone, with an immaculate attire, and a cocky attitude.

Harris was ahead of his time. He was a metrosexual LONG before that term was coined!!

^   All the guys at the 1-2 were bachelors, with the exception of Barney and Fish. Kind of unusual, but it worked.

I have to say I wasn't too keen on the early Wojo, finding his treatment of women to be, well, let's just say, "less than enlightened", and his howlingly hypocritical attitude toward prostitutes ("I hate women who sell their bodies for sex, and yet it's OK for me to sleep with anything with a pulse") to be kind of repulsive, but...as time went on the character really grew and struggled with his own imperfections, perhaps moreso than any other BM character, and I really grew to enjoy the character.

A heartthrob? Sigh. I guess. There's guys that women find attractive that other men can kind of understand (in a distant, totally male way of course, lol), but there's others that guys just don't get. Wojo's "heart throb" status is one I don't really see, but hey, I'm not a lady, and it takes all kinds!

I think that is easy to explain:

Wojo: He was afraid of any type of commitment.

Harris: I think a lot of women, found him, to be little on the self centered side

Dietrich: Because he was such an intelligent man. I think a lot of people, including women, could not relate to him; but, I do give props to Arthur, in one category. The man was the epitome of charm

Yamana: I love him, but to be frank; he looked like the type, whom, had not been on a date, since the last decade, or two (sorry, Yemana)

Luger: See, answer above

Levitt: I think he scared women away; he reminded me of, the obsessive type.

Ironic, isn't it - the bachelor who finally tied the knot in the series finale was - LUGER!!!! Pity the poor woman who had to put up with him!!

The one you forgot to mention was Chano. He wasn't on the show nearly long enough to explain why, but it was obvious that he liked women a lot. He liked to go out dancing and such. I think Chano was just a carefree guy who just wanted to have a good time, but just wasn't ready/willing to settle down at that point. Again, that's just my take. Had he stayed for the duration of the series, maybe we would've found out more.

Harris was a LITTLE self-centered? That's the understatement of the year!!

Agreed, Wojo was such a jerk in that early episode "The Courtesans". I found him annoying that first season...he was so - Neanderthal!!! But he did get better as time went on, and that's a testament to the writers and especially Max Gail. But my guy was, is and always will be Chano. :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:

Well, Chano, the love his life, was not born yet; not till 1979. She is a pretty girl, with gorgeous hair

Awwwwwww...thank you. :bighug:

Hahahha, okay, I was being, too kind! Harris: was too self-centered, and suffered from NPD (Narcissistic, Personality, Disorder):D

I think you're STILL being too kind!!

Regardless of all of Harris' flaws. I think beneath that arrogant facade, was a man with a heart of gold. But anyway, yeah..I was still being, way too generous:lol:
