The theater was renovated in 2007[1] and was renamed the Fillmore as part of a management contract. It is now home to live concerts, productions and can be rented for special events. The theater is now operated and managed exclusively by Live Nation. On May 5, 2010, NBC Miami reported that the theater would be demolished as a result of remodeling for the Convention Center, which would replace the theater with a new hotel.[2][3]"

According to the article, the hotel would bear Gleason's name.

If I was ever in Miami I'd rather see the theater in which Mr. Gleason performed than a hotel named for him that was built years after he died. :rolleyes:

That makes a lot of sense to spend tons of $$$$$$ to knock it down just three years later. I agree with Marvo, I'd rather see the theater than a hotel named after him.
