I've been watching the last few episodes of season 5, and have come to the realization that Dick York's Darrin is never made aware that Samantha is pregnant with Adam. The viewers find out in the 3rd from the last episode with Samantha discussing it with Endora and Maurice, and later explaining it to Tabitha. The 2nd last episode is a non-darrin episode, and the last episode is when Sam and Darrin travel to Mexico City for business. Nothing is mentioned of the pregnancy in this last Dick York episode. Then of course in the fall, Dick Sargent was Darrin.

While watching this it seemed so strange and sad, like Dick York was cheated out of knowing of the birth of his real child. and Dick Sargent was going to be raising a kid that wasn't even his!!!! Then I remembered, its just a tv show!

LOL!!

Well, he is told on the phone in that episode, but we never hear his voice, of course, as York was gone. In the episode that was ended up becoming "Daddy Does His Thing" (the one where York collapsed), Sam hints that she has a surprised "for both of us" (probably announcing her pregnancy), but that plotline had to be scrapped and the episode rewritten.

Oh I like that title better!
Is this mentioned in the "Bewitched Forever" book?

As we all know, the broadcast order of the season 5 episodes was shuffled a bit so that Darrin would appear to be gone sometimes and back at others---so in "Samantha and Darrin in Mexico City," Sam "didn't know yet" that she would have news for Darrin.

In the summer reruns, they were shown in production order so that all the non-Darrin episodes would run at the end and, theoretically, make the "Darrin Switch" less shocking to viewers.

(as if a totally different guy with a much different personality and much less chemistry with Liz could just stroll in casually to a role that had been well-known for 5 years!)
