While watching the first season of Happy Days, on the Hub network, I just noticed they use the regular "Happy Days" theme in the opening instead of "Rock-around-the-Clock". Is RATC used as the opening theme on the season 1 dvd release?

yes, it was used on the Season 1 dvd, but it was changed to "Happy Days" for the second season release (which should have still had "Rock Around The Clock")
which episode had the later theme? - they are already well into the third season

Considering Rock Around The Clock had massive sales it's strange this would even be an issue.

Well, its good to know its on season one's dvd release. I didn't even know they used "Rock-around-the-Clock" after season 1.
I haven't started collecting Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley because of what I hear of the editing just discourages me. :(.

Well, I don't know about L&S but I know that on the Hub network they do cut somethings out that is on the DVD...
That being said, one episode on the 3rd season I noticed the DVD did cut out and there must have been some music rights to the sliding under the stick contest or something.
And I go to another Happy Days website and they said the Hub even bleets out the part where Howard says Monopoly game in the episode where Spike is taking Joanie out.
